Shift to P warning RX400h
I searched the forum a couple of months ago and could not find the solution to my problem. It may have been posted since, but for now, mine has been fixed.
Here was the problem and solution. For several months, when starting the car (getting the Ready light), the car would give the warning to shift to P. Well, it was in P and no matter how many times you would move the shifter, it would not go away. Sometimes, there would be another message about VSC...or something like that. The car would not start.
By luck, we found that moving the headlight switch from auto to off, while still getting the shift to P message, the Ready light would come on. While this was sort of a hassle, it worked.
Living in the midwest, we get snow and salt. I decided not to drive the car that much. By the time we wanted to drive it, the battery must have drained. After trying to charge it several times, I decided to get a new battery. And, presto. The old battery had a dead cell in it. There was enough charge for the car to get the Ready light if used on a regular basis, but not enough to start with headlight switch in auto, and maybe getting the shift to P message. Anyway, it has been two weeks or so and no shift to P or any other warning messages. BTW, I stopped in both a Lexus and Toyota dealer for advice but none was given...so, hopefully this may help someone else.

I had the same thing after getting gas early one morning. Shut the vehicle off and after several tries I got it started and had no more trouble but mentioned it to my son and we both forgot till I went to the hand carwash and got the same thing only worse totally dead. Jumped it got it washed and put an Optima Yellow top in it.

Yesterday, I stumbled across this little gem (below). I found this on the lexus owners club forum. I did not take it into the dealer for calibration. I'll try this method first. I guess, with all the electronic warnings, they could have added yet another for this type of warning.
