New fog lights, DRLs and parking lights for the RX450h
The color of the DRLs and fog lights have been bothering me since I picked up my RX450h. The yellowness, or more like dirty white, clashed with the LEDs and basically looked cheap. Now I know I could just turn off the DRLs but I need the fogs to see at night due to the anemic light output of the LEDs. So I hooked up with an installer Friday to change them out along with the parking lights.
The DRLs were easily accessible through the top. The parking lights were tricky because they’re blocked by the LED headlight casing. Finding and installing the bulbs had to be done by touch. Below is the view looking straight down the passenger side. The DRL cover is partially obscured by the frame at the bottom (picture 1),
For the DRLs, super bright xenons were used. The bulb is blue and gives off a nice blue hue to the light casing. It’s perfect for the h. Check out the old DRL bulb after six months. Pretty bad oxidation going on there (picture 2).
To get to the fog lights, the covers underneath the engine were removed and the forward part of the wheel well cover was moved. The passenger side fog install was pretty simple, driver’s side not so much. The trans cooler sits behind the fog light. This is the view taken from the front wheel well cover on the driver’s side. The fog light is partial white ring to the left (picture 3).
Overall, the install wasn't bad at all. I think it took longer to remove/replace all the covers and make sure all the clips and screws made it back to their proper place.
Here are a few dusk/early evening shots. First, the LEDs with high beams on at an angle (picture 4).
New LED parking light (picture 5).
I haven’t been able to take decent pictures of the new 6K fogs at night because of the insane humidity around here. I hope to do that soon.
A big thank you to Vinnie and Joe at Audio Expressions for doing an awesome job
Edit: Sorry for the problems seeing the pictures Hope this works for everyone.

Overcoming obstacles
Super job Anita.
I'm beginning to think that the lack of easy accessibility will mean that a few years/miles down the road there will be a lot of our cars being traded with blown bulbs .
The courage and determination of yourself and a few others are showing that long term bulbs can be installed but I doubt the majority of the owners will go this route. Especially when they find out what Lexus rates will probably be to change a blown bulb .

Here's another picture I meant to include. It's a side by side comparison of the old vs. new DRLs which are also the high beams. What a difference.

I believe the DRLs are Litech. I let the installer go with bulb selection since he knows more about them than I do. Even better, any problems and I go back to him. Realistically I should get a few years out of them. They're not that expensive.
