Default Bridgestone Alenza or Yokohama S Drive Tires?

I'm currently in the market for new tires for my 2008 RX400h (currently have Goodyear at 28K miles) and always thought I would buy the Alenzas, based on the great reviews I've read in this forum and in other locations. However, the sales rep at a local tire company said that the Alenzas won't fit my car (hmm!) and recommended that I consider the S Drive tires by Yokohama. And, just checking, is the size of the tire 235/55/VR18? The guy at the tire company said the size should be 245/40/18.

Also, does anyone know anything about the Michelin Latitude Tour tires. Just read about them and they sound as great as the Alenzas. I'm thinking I might not want the S Drive tires since they are really a summer tire, not an all weather tire. Thoughts?

ummm... you need a new tire supplier.. 245/40/18 is a very BAD size for you RX...
if he said 245/55 or 245/50.. it MIGHT be ok.. but i would stay with 235/55/18

I don't think S Drive has that size.. i have the S drive on our BMW & Infiniti.. great summer tires for the price, but it has ZERO snow grip.. the tires will get noisy after 5k miles or so..other than that.. great tires...

Alenzas are great in the snow and cheaper than OE tires. Only downside is the extra weight. I didn't have the Michelins long enough to test out but many people here got decent mileage out of them. I had the MXM4 (?) on the '04 , 235/55/18. I also noticed 3rd gen owners are recommending the Michelins - not sure if they're the Latitudes. I have the Dunlops on my 450h Jury is still out on them.

Have you checked Tire Rack, CL vendor here? Their ratings are very helpful. Good luck.

Just put a new set of Goodyear Fortera Triple Threads on. I've had these tires on a couple cars b4 this. Man, what a difference from the Micheilns, like night and day. About 25% quieter. Cost about a thousand dollars for 4, but have a 60K warranty. Just feels like a new pair of tennis shoes, tight, fast, grippy.

I'm currently rolling on Michelin MXV4 and it's pretty good, had to swap the Goodyear Eagle RS1 because they were not that great in for winter driving. They had uneven treadwear. But they are pretty good summer tires for like less than 21k miles. The Michelin's are what I have been rolling on and it's pretty good IMHO.
