Recall of 400h in China affect us???
There are few details out, but one has to be concerned about the recall of RX400h built in 2004-2006 (the 400h were built until 2005) affects us. Anyone know the details? I know it's about loss of control of the electric steering.

I wonder why this recall did not come from Toyota/Lexus directly.

Risk of injury.
The product poses a risk of accident and injury because increasing the strength required to turn the steering wheel increases the strength needed to control the direction of the vehicle, which may lead the driver to lose control of the car while it is moving. Since the permanent magnets are not properly attached to the power steering rotor, the engine gradually loses its torque when the steering wheel is turned full lock.
Voluntary corrective action taken by the importer.

Thanks for your information. I'm hoping you're 100% right about the numbers because mine was actually built during that period, but just misses the last number.
I need to bring my IS in for protective coating next week so I'll inquire at that time.

Thanks for the info. I inquired at the dealer and they said that the problem usually surfaces early. In other words it should have showed up a couple of years ago (the car is almost 3.5 years old).

sorry, but this is definitely wrong information! we had two cars in germany, one 2 years and the other 3 years 2 month old where the problem showed up and the drivers had been lucky to avoid an accident.

On another site it is posted that Lexus has issued a service campaign. I logged into the Lexus site and sure enough it showed up that I should take my car in.
