Help with Buying my first Lexus
Hi. Everyone.
I'm new to this forum and to Lexus in general.
With the high gas prices, I've decided to purchase/lease a 2008 Lexus RX400h.
However, I have no idea the best way to bargain with Lexus dealers. I have a few questions, any help would be appreciated.
(1) As far as packages go, are Lexus cars only sold as seen on the Lexus website? I want navigation, but am not interested in the other items in the first package for $6K.
(2) Where can I find invoice pricing for this car? And how much is considered a good deal (profit for dealer)?
(3) What are most people paying for a base model? I've been to Edmunds.com, but don't usually go by their figures since I know often times the best price is often lower than their TMV price (this is my first hand experience with buying a BMW which I am an expert at).
Any hlep is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Read this thread from beginning to end and you will find answers to most of your questions. This thread saved me quite a bit of money with my negotiations. The only real options are AWD, the ML stereo system, lasar cruise and the rear DVD player.

You should contact the internet sales manager at as many dealers you're willing to travel to purchase the car. Play one against the other for the best deal. It depends on the supply and demand of the vehicle... My dealer told me, they can't get enough right now with the high fuel prices. I don't know if it's true or not.
Good luck,
Craig

I just bought a fully loaded 08 RX 400H AWD with everything on it but RSES and laser cruise control. The color white on the Westcoast was hard to find and I had to wait for 4 weeks for one to be built. I did manage to get 2500.00 off of MSRP but I have bought alot from that dealership before and know the GM as well as the SM so they gave me a discount for loyalty. They both said the Hybrids are flying off the show room floor and I believe them because a white one was not to be found in Cali or AZ. This was two weeks ago. The KBB price seems to be pretty accurate as well as Edmunds market value.

They weren't flying out of the lots this spring in the midwest when I bought my 2008 Rx400h. It took me 2 emails with the Internet Sales Manager to negotiate about $4k off the msrp (they would have gone more on a fully loaded vehicle with ML and DVD). This price is probably fairly common if you look at the Edmunds forum link that I listed above.
Lexus forbids them listing their inventories online but you can search some inventories online at yahoo.

As for my RXh, I replaced my ML with an Alpine W505 stereo with iPod interface and steering wheel harness. The good thing is that I can watch iPod videos on the large 7" screen!
