With the AC and Heater off and driving properly for a hybrid, we have gotten up to 30.7 mpg. With either of them on, we're looking at about 27-28 mpg. Ya gotta drive it right, though.

My parent's are down to 26 mpg. However, they recently drove 1000 miles to Illinois and they were speeding to get there because my grandmother was given 24 hours to live (she's all better now), so I think thats what brought them down.

But wouldn't your performance -- forgetting MPG -- be better with premium?

Adapting to the Hybrid Way of Driving, and coasting as much as possible is where the real benefits are.
I extremely doubt that there is a "magic" grade of oil that will increase fuel mileage as much as was posted here. Or, by modifying DRL's will increase by any noticeable difference fuel mileage.
If someone was to unload 500lbs or more, for example from the curb weight of the vehicle would one be able to quantify and be able to achieve real world results. I.e. remove all the interior seats, less for the drivers seat, spare tire, tools, interior door panels, interior carpeting, sound system etc...
The magic speed for me is about 45-50mph, usually on partially congested freeway traffic can you get away with driving at that speed. I find the hybrid regularly switches the ice off and either runs in series with coasting and battery power. Boy, the mileage really shines. The batteries are usually charged and mainted to at least 75% capacity and there is plenty of battery reserve to achieve ice off once entering city mode.

you make a good point, at 40,000 miles the RX400h turned in a 6.2 0-60 time for car & driver, car just gets better with age.

But we didn’t have time between acceleration runs for the steady-state cruising required to fully charge the batteries. We made sure to do this during the final test after 40,000 miles, and that made a significant difference. The 0-to-60 time dropped to 6.6 seconds — matching a 340-hp Porsche Cayenne S — and the quarter-mile to 15.2 seconds at 94 mph, only 0.2 second and 1 mph slower than the Cayenne.

I doubt they rob the car of any power which is why MadloR mentioned doubt of any difference noticed in modifying the DRL's
Some people disable them but I think they do it for the sake of changing things.. Not for any kind of mileage savings.

700 miles, at about 75 MPH, 3 adults, 2 cats, and a trunk filled to the brim with luggage: 27.2 mpg. Was doing better until the last 100 miles which was up a mountain. Pretty awesome nonetheless.
