Thumbs up PTS31-33050 is the wrong Satellite Radio fit kit for the 400h: UPDATE:Got it to WORK!

Don't use PTS31-33050 as a fit kit for satellite radio kits. I purchased this along with the Sirius Tuner (PTS31-00052) and it doesn't work.

Why? The wiring harness has 5 connectors on it.
  1. Sirius tuner connector
  2. Radio connector male
  3. Radio connector female
  4. AMP connector male
  5. AMP connector female

There is no compatible AMP connector I could find in my removal of many panels. I did in fact read some material from techinfo.toyota.com. For my full joruney visit https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...25#post1961225

Let me say this, even if there is a place to connect the 16p AMP connectors, I don't believe they would be in reach of the radio connector as they are spanned only about 4 feet.

If you read the thread I posted, VP911 had success in a RX330 using PTS31-33051. There he mentions only a radio connector to connect, no AMP connector. And he does mention he has a NON ML system. So do I.

After being assured it can work and then power was the missing factor, I reopened the dash up, spliced power and ground and it works. Let me elaborate.

Reference:
1. Sirius tuner connector
2. Radio connector male
3. Radio connector female
4. AMP connector male
5. AMP connector female

Background:
The wiring harness connectors 4 and 5 or mostly a pass through, however the Sirius Tuner connector 1 does have two wires vested into those connectors. Basically power. There is a lime yellow wire and and gray wire (I think it's gray) that run from the AMP Harness (5) to the Sirius Tuner Connector (1). So, when I connected the Radio connectors 2 and 3 the radio original did not work. This is because there was no power to the Sirius Tuner box. Below are the final steps to complete, however there is still a question on the board. Is the power required for the tuner and Constant 12v or an Accessory.

Steps I used to finish installation:
I cut the AMP Harness 4 and 5 off leaving the two wires that run to the Sirius Tuner (1) taped to the main harness. I crimped 2-end butt splice connectors
onto the power (Yellow) and ground wire (gray). On the other end I cut the cigarette lighter wires (after testing them) and crimped the remaining two ends into the connector respectively. Again, the 12V accessory feed to the cigarette lighter goes to the yellow while the other one is used as a ground. Test wires before making the connection.

Side Note:
I used the cigarette lighter 12v accessory because I was convinced that the Tuner needed a switched 12v feed. Now I'm not so sure. In intial testing I noticed after a few minutes coming back to the car and turning the key on the Tuner was on channel 184 and there was no presets. I specifically left the radio on a lower channel and there were presets. Later I turned the key off and on and this problem did not occur again (I don't have the vehicle to test again) so I'll confirm this later. My hunch is that the Sirius Tuner needs a 12v constant and it turns itself on and off through the Audio connectors 2 and 3.

Make certain when making this splice you feed the wire harness behind the frame the radio sits on, otherwise the radio won't sit properly.

I will post my findings about the 12vpower being switched or not later today.

Default Update

The wire DOES need to be connected to a constant 12VDC. If you don't connect this wire to 12VDC it will lose the last station you were left on and lose the presets when you turn the key off.

I ask because mine sounds like the quality of an AM station (which makes sense because it is controlled through the AM mode). There is absolutely no static, but there seems to be no "depth" to the sound. After I listen to a CD and then go to satellite, there is a major sound difference. I understand satellite isn't supposed to be CD quality, but it's supposed to be close.
