Default New info on drivetrain...

The 3.5 V6 which is longitudinally mounted will have an electric motor as controller, a planetary gear type CVT and another electric motor/generator for drive output all housed together like a large conventional transmission. The power will then travel back conventionally like a GS430. The new wrinkle will be that the CVT has a low/high range that adds to its performance potential and gas savings. This is a good example of the creativity of the Lexus engineers who are blazing a new trail in design of hybrid powertrains. We expect to get it in May....

Thanks for finding the pic. I still believe that the maximum reading is indeed 275kw. If you look at the pic the reading is in the increment of 50kW, therefore skipping the number of 275kw. The font of the numbers is simply too large to print them in 25kw increments without making the power meter look terribly crowded. As for the reading below 0, I don't see how that's related to the maximum reading at all. In the end of the day, 275kw simply makes more sense than 250kw since 335hp is barely more powerful than the 306hp gas motor alone, and we all know what Toyota's electric motor is capable of.

The thing is, if that max was 275, i'd think they'd mark it. I'm pretty sure drivers would like to know that they're using the full power of their car Much like the Bugatti Veyron (1001bhp)

I think you're making the one and only example in the world in which the true maximum power is precisely marked in the power/tacho meter. No other car does this, or ever did. None. I don't see why Lexus would feel the need to be any different in this regard. A 50kw increment in the reading makes the power meter look just right, so why mess with the aesthetic symmetry of the power meter by cramming in another number in 25kw increment in the upper right? The Veyron 16.4 was able to mark that 1001hp at the end only because the number happens to be close enough to a whole number. It's not like they marked the readings of both 1001hp AND 1000hp.

Well, I don't think anyone will know for sure at this point (except Lexus), until you get to drive it and see if the meter will go beyond 250 KW.
Besides, it's the real world performance that really matters, & we won't get those stats. until the car is out & tested.

The 0 marking on the kw meter is accurate where it is. The needle will spin up to 275 when it's being floored, when coasting, it's go to 0, when BRAKING it will go BELOW 0.

Cool...so that's where the regenerative braking system comes into play. It all makes perfect sense now.

Right advancement, instead of still offering 5 speed autos in luxury cars, lol.

You must have missed the word "over". Lexus has always said the 450h is gonna have "over" 300hp. We'll just have to see how much "over" it's gonna be.

These have probably been seen before but I think the deep blue is a great color:

Isn't that the same ol' Blue Onyx? Great color for sure, because that's the color of my ES.
