Default 60K service done

Well now I know - the 60K service on my 2010 HS cost me $500. Pretty typical price for a 60K service, though not much is done compared to my previous cars. Oil/air filter/cabin filter, rotate tires, flush/refill the brake fluid. And check a bunch of stuff. No spark plugs (120k) or belts or valve adjustments. 2/3 of the price was labor. Also asked about the timing belt, and was told we don't have one, so that's one major cost we don't need. And had plenty of brake pad left, so maybe those will last longer than normal cars too.

Oh, and my loaner this time was a GS350 :-) Nice change of pace from the little CT200h they normally give out. It was fun having some HP under the hood for a day :-) But only 21 mpg :-(

Thanks for the update.

I might try this one myself when I reach that mileage. The brake fluid flush is the hard one. And with the type of braking system of the HS, being almost electric in operation instead of vacuum, I'm going to read up on how it's done and maybe talk to the Tech at the dealer.

I don't think it'll void the warranty if I do it myself and save the receipts.

$500 is expensive for 60K service. I usually do the maintenance myself and use Toyota dealer for things I can't do like brake fluids. My nearest Lexus is 2 hours away anyway.

Oil and filter change, Mobil 1 0w20 and extended filter. I buy a jug from Wal-Mart for $23, filter from Amazon or Advance Auto parts. Oil change took me 20 minutes most. $40

Cabin/air filter from Amazon/Ebay, took me like 10 minutes $45

Rotate and balance tires from Sams club or Firestone $20

Brake fluid flush from Toyota $120

Total cost is around $225 and a lot of my time saved from 4 hours trip to Lexus dealer

Brake fluid flush for $120?

Did they really bleed a fresh master cylinder through each wheel, or did they do like I caught a BMW mechanic do to me, and just replace the fluid in the master cylinder and SAY they did bleed it?
