Default replacement tires for the HS 250h

I'm looking for my first replacement set of tires for my 2010 HS. My priorities are good mileage, quiet, durability in that order. I do mostly city driving and I'm definitely not a sport-type driver. Here's my list of thoughts so far:

Michelin Primacy MXM4
Michelin Pilot HX MXM4
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
Continental ExtremeContact DWS
Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position
Michelin also has a promising tire in the Pilot Sport A/S 3, but it's apparently not available until July.

Any suggestions or reviews?

I have the Conti DWS's. Definitely better wet handling than the stock 18" Toyo's, but the mpg isn't as good and they are a bit noisy. Still, they were a good bit cheaper than the MXM4's, which were my second choice given great experience with MXV4's (not available in the 18" size). I have over 20k on them and there's plenty of tread left - the warranty is 50k on these so they should last.

That's good to know. While wet handling is nice, the noise and mileage would be bigger issues for me. I mostly do in-town driving and if I really felt worried about the weather, I'd borrow my wife's RX. So it sounds like the DWS's aren't the best choice for me, but I can see how others would like them.

Look into the Nitto tires, I posted a review of them in the tire section for the HS250. I have the Continental DWS on my Honda. I would say both tires are great. If price is the same, I say go with the Nitto because the warranty and thread life is 10K more at 60K. They did well on my HS250.

Default HS250h Tire Wear

I am looking to replace original tires on my 2010 HS250h. I have 26000 miles on vehicle now. So far one of the options for replacement is the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tire. Features of the tire look very good. How is the noise from tire? I have had excessive wear issues on shoulders of tires, even though I have kept up with all rotations and balancing maintenance. Anyone heard of what causes this?

The DWS is noisier than the stock Toyo's or MXV4's.

As for shoulder wear, if it's wearing evenly on both shoulders then your tires are underinflated. I generally find that I have to inflate my tires over the recommended amount in order to get even wear (not just on the HS). 38 psi works for me on the DWS.

Default HS250h tires

I had Continental Extreme Contact DWS installed today. Will comment back when I put some miles on them.

I installed Conti DWS on my 2010 HS. I've only around 7k miles on them but I found them better that original Toyos.

Default 2010 HS250h Replacement Tires

After a couple weeks Continental DWS were a good choice. Noise is minimum and still averaging 37 mpg. Tires look, fit the car very well.

I replaced my tires with fantastic performance tires, but the car felt ridiculously heavy and wouldn't glide as well as it did with the stock tires. I dumped the new tires and did some research. YOU MUST GET LOW ROLLING RESISTANCE TIRES for the car to glide well.

I ended up putting Primacy MXM4's. GREAT in the rain and light snow. They wear very very well and handle very well. I think it's the only tire my HS will ever see. Hope that helps.

Good luck!

yes, I meant swap out the 18" wheels with 17" wheels (which are what the base HS250 comes with). Then you can get tires meant for 17" wheels, but have the same outer diameter as your old ones, which gives more sidewall to absorb bumps. As I understand it, the base suspension is tuned for the 17" wheels, and only the sport suspension is tuned for the 18's. I do not believe the premium version has the sport suspension, just the 18" wheels for looks, which leads to the bumpy ride.

Maybe someone that has the 17's would swap you for your 18's (wheels and tires) which would save you from having to mount them. I gave that serious consideration at first, and then decided I liked the looks of the 18's more than the 17's, and live with the rough ride.
