Unhappy Trunk Lid annoyance/problem?

Hi all,

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this yet. So I've had my HS for about 1.5 months now and every time it rains, the back of the HS (trunk lid part) collects water and gets dirty like crazy (probably because there are no mud flaps on the rear wheels) and when I open the trunk lid to access the trunk, water drips non-stop into the trunk itself and all over me. It's been worst lately because it's salt on the roads melted the snow so it's dirty road salt water and my trunk is now littered with spots of salt stains which are hard to clean out. Is this a design flaw? Anyone experience this and if so, anyone have remedies?
Thanks!

Yes, I would agree that is a somewhat uncharacteristic design flaw and will be an aggravation to you for many years. I had a car like that once and even though we don't have much rain it was always upsetting to either have the water drip into the trunk or on too my clothes. It even happend after every car wash. I think BMW's - maybe 5 series - also have a problem like this and the water drips into the battery compartment in the trunk or something so you are not alone.

And you will make adjustments - like not putting your freshly laundered shirts in the trunk on a rainy day.

Default Trunk design issue

Agree - never really thought it thru until I read your post. Open up the trunk and its almost 1 cup of water pouring down in the trunk
But is that because of mud flaps? Winter and snow will continue for next 4 months here in NY - I could get a pair installed.

I agree a bad design. I have a plastic sticker that came with the car and I found out quickly why. It get dirty on clean roads with little rain. The problem it's a three year live with.
