2010 HS250H - Hybrid system check which leads to a fuel pump issue
Long story short, my wife was driving home on our 2010 HS250H and all of a sudden the "Hybrid System Check" light came on. The car immediately lost power and she was stranded in the middle of the road. Got it towed to a local dealer here in Riverside, CA.
The car has 82K miles on it currently and was running pretty good up to this point. The analysis came back from the dealer saying that the fuel pump was faulty and it threw a "hybrid system check" light since there is no fuel feeding into the system. The replacement will be over $1k on this.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? Other than the dealer here, what are my options in Riverside/Orange and LA county?

Seems kind of high for a fuel pump. Found this interesting site that says $1000 is right at the top of the range for this repair, and that you could pay half that somewhere else. Probably worth checking around, though you'd need to get it towed again and maybe be without the car a couple extra days if you went elsewhere.

Or you could order the part from this dealer that appears to be selling parts 25% off and do it yourself or take it to your favorite mechanic:

Everybody has different priorities, but if this were my car I'd just get it fixed and be back on the road again.
Good luck!

Thanks everyone for chiming in on this topic. I was out of town all week and I got the dealer working on this (Lexus customer service is awesome and offered some assistance). After picking up the car, the work isn't completely done just yet as I noticed some gas leak after a fill up. So it is back in the shop once again. Hope it will be a quick fix with the gasket or something.
Crown Lexus has been great so far as they found another issue (in which i will start a separate thread).

All,
I received a letter from Lexus on this subject.
Looks to be VIN specific but I’m sure if your car is registered with Lexus you should be receiving something in the mail.

What is the VIN range? I got mine used and do not trust them to send me a notice. I could not find mention of it at the NHTSA site. Do you have a campaign number?

Received my letter yesterday. It just says SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN and then applies to VIN number (my number). I will call the dealer to have this and the rear suspension recall setup on the same day. All they did last time was put stickers on the rear suspension arms. Anyway, no campaign number so you should probably call your nearest dealer.

I got my notice yesterday. Now I need to research the rear suspension recall as I had not heard of that one.

I had the repair done yesterday. Dropped it off in the morning and picked it up after work as they are on the way to and from work. You are supposed to bring it to them for the fuel pump replacement with less than 1/4 tank of gas, which I did.
As a bonus, they filled up the gas tank and washed it.
