Default Struts/Shocks for HS250H

Having a hard time finding these anywhere but the dealer. Anyone know a source for quality OEM or aftermarket?? I assume they may be the same as those used on other Toyotas but when I search online parts distributors I come up empty.
Thanks for all replies.....

There is no similar Toyota vehicle to the HS250. I think the sales volume of the HS250 was so low that OEM may be your only source. OEM shocks/struts are usually made by KYB for Toyota/lexus. You could try some of the online discount OEM Lexus parts sources. Some are listed in the vendor section of this site. A couple are Lexus South Atlanta Parts and Lexus parts now.

Thanks. I'll try those sources. The odd thing is when I searched for struts a few years ago when I wasn't actually ready to buy they were not hard to find. I believe KYB was one of the company's listed back then. Puzzled why they seem to have vanished. Would hate to be forced to pay the dealer markup.

My front struts are leaking on my 250H, dropped the car off this morning to have the work done, and now I'm being told the struts are backordered.

I searched around and found OEM here http://www.lexuspartsnow.com/oem-lex...t-housing.html

Did not see anyone selling KYB as aftermarket, not even RockAuto.

The best place to get springs and struts for the HS is directly from Japan.

You've just got to be brave to order, and be willing to wait a few weeks.

They have so many varying styles, spring rates, brands, and lowering springs, it take a while to decide.

Search for JDM parts for the HS. There still might even be a few US suppliers around. But it won't be cheap!!!

I have no idea if they are any good and I doubt any of the few HS250h owners on this forum have purchased them or similar. I did a quick cross check of their reference number on the less expensive kit and it is for the HS250h. If you have $880 to splurge, plus installation, then go for it.

I just replaced my rear shocks after 85,000 miles. Total cost $92.00 delivered from Lexus of Queens, NY. Took me about 90 minutes to install both this morning in my home garage. Nice ride improvement.

Erockz - The front struts cost twice as much as the rear springs. About $200 each. See the link below. How many miles on your car? My rear shocks wore out at 85,000 but the front struts are still fine.

The rear shocks are easy to install, just a couple of bolts after you remove some trunk lining. The front struts are a major pain and require more mechanical skill and tools to replace safely. You need a spring compressor.

https://parts.lexusofqueens.com/a/Le...2410-4803.html

The picture on their web site is wrong. You want part no. 48520-79075 (left) and 48520-79085 (right) https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...520-79075.html shows one of the struts.

I always replace the strut mount bearing at the same time as they cost little and you have the whole thing apart anyway.
I recommend an 18 to 24 volt impact driver to turn the bolts on the spring compressor. Or take it to a shop.
Or remove the strut assemblies and have a shop swap the springs etc to the new struts. It does not take a shop long as they have larger wall mounted spring compressors and do this all the time.
You need an alignment after replacing struts.

I took the car to a local shop who said they will charge me $300 for labor to replace both sides. But there are alot of parts and pieces so I am confused

is there the strut mount bearing you replace?

https://parts.lexusofqueens.com/p/Le...861928010.html

also do you think I will need all these ?

I know I need a kind of cover for the shocks to they dont leak as mine ripped. Do I also need to get springs? Also do you think I can pick these up at lexus since I live in NY I can save on shipping or are these internet deals only?

have you ever heard about this site

https://www.oemvehicleparts.com/chec...dda8d/shipping

they have slightly lower prices but I saw lexus has %15 off I might rather go to lexus myself and pick it up if I can

also when I clicked the bracket on the picture it took me to this page which said I needed these parts but they look the same but have different prices one is $204 and the other $185, so I need to get both $204 and $185 parts for each side?

That is a good price to swap them out. Are you doing both front and rear? Have them do an alignment, or take it to Mr.Tire after getting one of their online discount coupons. Ask the shop what their prices are if they get the struts and stuff for you.

You do not need all those parts. You do not need new springs. You do not need 4 front struts to replace 2 front struts. I think the other strut part numbers are for the Touring Suspension option, which is stiffer. I think the front struts you want are 48520-79075 and 48520-79085 but confirm it by entering your VIN at Lexus Parts Now.

I think you should order everything from Lexus Parts Now as their site is easier to navigate, has better pictures and the price difference is minimal. When on
Use this link and enter your VIN number to identify exactly which struts are for your vehicle. Click on change vehicle and enter your VIN.
https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts-...rs=48619-28010

Once you have the exact parts numbers You can try calling the dealers in NY or even Lexus of Queens to see what price they offer to get it in person or if they will price match if you pick up.

You should also get 2 new front sway bar links because they are often rusted on and have to be cut off. It is far cheaper to get aftermarket ones from RockAuto Choose from the Daily Driver category.
I recommend ACDelco (which I just put on my RX350 when I replaced my front struts last month and I had to grind off my rusted links) or Mevotech https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...+bar+link,7580

It appears you have a torn strut bellows also called a front spring insulator, part number 48157-47020 and which is the same for both sides, about $25 each. They protect the strut shaft from dirt, but do not stop it from leaking. Struts leak when they wear out and internal seals fail. RockAuto also has front strut bellows for a little less money.

The strut mount bearing is 48619-28010
I have no idea why Lexus of Queens lists an A to differentiate the sides as both are the same!
See https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...bsorber,,48619

The new struts will come with new top bolts for the piston shafts.

https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...bsorber,,48811

and is this the after market one?

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...515&cc=1503723

or this one

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...820&cc=1503723

the price difference is huge if thats the same one

I called my local lexus and they will price match the price if I go pick it up

That's great news about the local Lexus dealer. Bring your VIN with you so they can get the exact matching parts for your car.

The part you listed that starts with 48811 is the entire sway bar. You never have to replace that part.

You want the sway bar link that starts with 515 on your link as that is for the front. If you read their descriptions it indicates if the link is for the front or rear. 45G20646 is the part number. You need 2 of them. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...1503723&jsn=20

The too high price for Lexus sway bar links is why I suggested aftermarket and why I bought aftermarket for my RX when replacing the front struts last month. It is a part that typically lasts for many years, whether good quality aftermarket or OEM.

It sounds like this is the first time you have done something like this if you do not know the difference between a sway bar and a sway bar link. I hope you get all the correct parts for your struts. You may want to watch a few youtube videos on front strut replacement to enhance your knowledge.

You never said how many miles are on your HS and were you diagnosed with leaking or failing front struts as the rears usually fail first. Are you also replacing the rear shocks? It is the rear shocks that affect your ride quality the most.
