HVAC whirring sound?
Hi guys,
Just discovered a problem and wondering if anyone had the same experience...
From time to time, my HS generates this whirring sound. I believe it is coming from my glove box compartment. I noticed the sound would go away if I turn off the HVAC fan blower. Did anyone experienced the same thing? How could this problem be resolved other than changing the whole blower unit?
Thanks in advance!

I suspect it is part of the hybrid system. It does several things automatically whether the car is on or off. It could be the battery cooling fan which cycles off and on, seemingly randomly.

Thanks for the reply,
I took open the cabin air filter access and was able to recreate the sound while I accidentally touch the fan blower with my finger... where I park my car there are quite a few pine trees. My guess is one of the pine needles got in contact with the blower fan.

The blower motor on our HS failed after about three years. Totally unacceptable but car was out of warranty. Before I replaced it, it would at times sound very loud like it was on the verge of death. When I replaced it I saw that the fan motor shaft had tons of play in it like the motor bearings had failed. Could be a bad lot of motors on this model??

Clean out, maybe vacuum out around the blower motor. Way back when I had a Mazda MX6 a similar thing happened and I pulled out the blower motor to find a bunch of leaves and stuff that had been sucked in and were making the noise.
