250HS Ride not Lexus-Like
I have the 250 hs and note that the ride is not as smooth, quiet, cushioned as I would expect from Lexus--bumps are noticeable--is that expected/typical of others experience? thanks,

Most other Lexus cars are more floaty, yes. The HS, especially the Premium or Sport with the 18" low profile tires, is tuned more like a euro sport sedan (and it's based on a euro-spec Toyota). Have you driven a CT200h or IS-F? Not all Lexus vehicles are tuned like a Buick.
Some people will deflate the tires a bit to soften it up, but don't go below 30 psi. Or see if someone will switch out their 17's with you - those will give a softer ride.

I agree.
The loaners I drove, (won't mention the models here on the forum) seemed more "American Car" like, and when I hopped back into the HS, it seemed more "European car" like with a more tight feel.
I kind of liked it better, with the choppy ride and all. It felt like it handled way better and would be more in control if you had to do some emergency maneuvers.
If you want a tight, choppy ride, try owning a couple of M3's like I had. But the HS, with it's electric power steering, felt very vague, and disconnected from the road in the steering wheel department. Very UN- M3 like !!!

There are also many who believe the stock Toyo tires the HS comes with give a rougher ride than replacing it with other tires...several threads on that in this forum...

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm coming off of a 2004 ford explorer - decently soft ride, but rear-wheel (unless you're in 4x4 mode), and a longer wheel base made it feel like driving a tank (although a Buick is much more like driving a boat).
Once the dealer let me do a solo test drive for a few hours (Friday), it definitely had that sporty "go-kart" European feel. I'm not that kind of driver, but it would probably be a ton of fun putting it on a windy track or obstacle course. Maybe it's something I'll consider!

Unfortunately, they are all only sold in Japan.

So you're saying that I could make it even more tight??? Oh man...time to save my pennies. I really like the feel of this car.

You may be able to order some of the Japan stuff through Carson Toyota who used to be a CL sponsor and is still a vendor. Their contact stuff is probably in the vendor section. Let us know if you find anything! I too like that it drives more like an Audi than a Lexus.
