Got my recall done last Saturday, the dealer replaced both arms, did alignment, and put epoxy over the nuts. They gave me 2014 ES350 as a loaner and it is so quiet and smooth with Michelin tires when compared to my HS250 with the Toyo tires.
The car is driving better after the fix and I probably replace my tires soon since I can't stand the road noise.
Interesting. I thought the arms are only replaced if damaged. Had you gotten the car aligned at some point in the past (supposedly that is what causes the thread damage that prompted the recall)? I need to call my dealer and find out if I can bring the car in...
So I had my HS in for it's 60K service, and asked about the recall. They said they had to order the parts, and scheduled me for the 14th. Wondering what parts if they're just supposed to epoxy the adjusting bolt? Anyway, I'll see what they do and report back.
The repair bullitin requires the adjusting arms to replaced if there is any evidence of rust on the threads. In most cases both of the arms are being replaced. Not a major repair, the problem is the parts are in a very limited supply at this time.
I just returned from the dealership on Wednesday. My car needed an overnight visit for the recall repair. The service rep said their was corrosion in the lower control arm threads. While I really appreciate the repair and the RX 350 service loaner, I am still confused why vehicle had corrosion in the threads. After all, my vehicle spent its entire life in Seattle and South West Washington. WA state doesn't use salt on the roads. Could the cold Pacific ocean air cause corrosion?
Just had mine done yesterday at the dealership in Chantilly Va. Told nothing required on mine except epoxying the existing arms and some stickers. Guess some places are being more aggressive than others as to what constitutes "rust requiring replacement of the arms." Really wasn't in a position to argue it, but at least I got a free tank of gas out of it...
