Newbie Reporting for Duty
Hello all. Brand spanking new member here. Picked up my Tungsten Pearl 2010 CPO 250h Premium w/Tech Package yesterday. I've been spying on you guys for the past few weeks to see if this is the car I really wanted. I guess that entitles each of you to a finder's fee from the dealer I purchased the car from. I traded in my 2008 BMW 535xiT wagon (I've seen a couple of former bimmerheads on here). I'm looking for something a little easier on my pocket at the gas pump and something cheaper to maintain. I think this car should satisfy those needs while still keeping me somewhat in the lap of luxury. I'll miss the twin turbos and the heated steering wheel (greatest option ever) but not much after that. I'll try my best to read the manuals and use the search option here while I settle in and get acquainted with my new car. But I know you'll all lend me a hand if I need assistance with something, right? Thanks and I look forward to many years here at Club Lexus!

Oh...one thing I just can't seem to wrap my head around - REMOTE STARTING. Is my car RS capable or not? How do I know for sure? I've tried the "three click" thing on the remote, but nothing happened. Also...being a CPO, shouldn't I have received a Key Card? Can someone enlighten me?

Welcome to the club! I have a 2010 premium, but without the tech. I don't have remote start, and don't recall seeing that as an option when I bought new. also, I didn't get a key card. So those are either on newer HS's, or higher end Lexus models.

My salesman enlightened me yesterday. The Key Card is an accessory (~$350) and the Remote Start is also an accessory you can buy (he wasn't sure of the price but from extensive searching yesterday, looks like it would be around $300 installed)

There will be a small sticker on the remote that says something along the lines of "Engine Starter" if it has the remote start. As long as the previous owner didn't scrape it off of course.
You can buy the remote starter from Sewell Lexus with the CL discount for $168.76. Installation labor not included.

Be aware of the limitations of a) Lexus OEM RS and b) RS on a hybrid.
The Lexus system has significant range issues, 50 to 75 feet is about it...really
RS a hybrid is somewhat less rewarding than a conventional IC motor. Nothing seems
to happen initially, the heated/ventilated seats engage and the electric A/C comes on
in warm weather. Eventually the motor fires up when the traction battery is low.

I always wondered about RS on a hybrid. It's kinda useless and defeats the purpose of a hybrid.
It will start at first with the RS, but while it's in PARK, the engine will run only until it reaches about 100 degrees F. Then it will shut down and sit there until the traction battery runs down or the temperature drops. You're not going to be able to hit the RS and let it idle until it defrosts the windows like the guys at work do. They'll burn 2 gallons of gas just to have the car warm and windows defrosted. Can't do that in a hybrid. It won't get that hot in PARK.
A hybrid has such an advanced heating circuit, that the fastest way to warm it is to drive it.
