Worth the purchase, 2010 hs250?
Took my mother-in-law to the dealership today and convinced her that a hs250 would be a better choice than a used rx. The dealership wanted $26k for a red one with navi and 25000 miles. I think I can get that price lower...here's my question
Knowing what you know now, would you purchase the car (taking that it's for a mother-in-law aside )?

My wife and I have 38,000 miles on a 2010 hs250h, which we purchased new. Yes, we would do it again. Having said that, why was your MIL considering an RX? There are significant differences between the intended use of each vehicle.

She sat in her friend's RX and it felt comfortable. Little does she realize that 1. She can't drive worth @$&@$$, 2. The mpg is crap on the RX and 3. She simply has no need for an RX.
I'd rather she have a car that she can handle and not scratch up in less than a week. And I don't want to hear her complain about how much gas is when she visits.

Yes I would buy again. I agree with all the nice loaded stuff , very cool to have but if you don't use them why pay for them . That being said when my HS has been to the Dr. I got a chance to drive 2013 ES 2012 IS awd and 2012 RS. All very nice the IS would be my least favorite not because its bad but just not for my family and I and to small. The RX was very nice and roomy . (Had H2,expeditions,Pilot,and others. ) would I buy a RX yes. But I see them everywhere I go .! All look them same . The ES WOW yes great car. But none had the equipment of my HS and gas mileage of course you might be able to get them loaded but you pay out the butt to get them or wait months . What kind of car has all the HS has to offer for 25-30 k ? I've been thinking about trading my 2010 Loaded Prius (roof, leather,Navi) for one but I get 50mpg and drive for my job. I know you asked about the RX or HS but just wanted to tell you a little about how I feel about my HS. My close friend just traded his newer RX for a 2013 pathfinder part if the reason was everyone has a RX and heard jokes about the older people having them. That being said the RX was easier to get in and out of due to its size ,but the HS was better than the ES . The HS sits higher than the ES. Also you have to check out the options on the RXs Some
are loaded but most are not. Looks like navi but some don't have it. You get leather and roof of course., sorry so long my 2cents

I paid $25k for a red HS with 25,000 a few weeks ago. I worked and worked to get it down from $27k, I don't think it'd be possible (at that location, for that vehicle) to get much lower, it was a pretty hard bargain.
The HS250 is not the vehicle I would recommend for somebody 60+ ... I would look for something much more simple. The mouse thing alone would cause some seniors to wreck the car.

Incredibly clueless comment about people over 60 but I shouldn't be surprised when something like that is said on a forum for a discontinued model that almost no one thought was worth buying.

Your concept of this "high road" sounds like a quaint idea of someone who I suspect is quite youthful.
For those of us who are well past 60, your comments about older people are in the same vein as a racial slur or any other discriminatory comment. I don't confront evil by taking some sort of "high road". Only the naive do that.

As someone well over 60, I can assure you there was nothing offensive with your comment. We get these guys all the time. They have no interest in any topic here as well as no interest in the HS other than to criticize it. And as many members here have noted, the most flagrant criticism of the HS has come from other members of the ClubLexus forum. Members that have never owned, we suspect never even driven an HS.
