Shock & Strut
I am looking for a front shock & strut complete assembly for my daughter's (new to her) 2010 Lexus 250H, but I can't find the complete assembly online anywhere. Does anyone know why they aren't available or where to find them aside from going directly through the dealership? Are the IS and HS shocks/struts parts compatible?

The IS is built on a completely different rear wheel drive platform than the HS and none of its parts fit. The HS is built on a Toyota Avensis (sp) chassis, which is a Japan only car. It is related to the Scion and as you can read in the links below, some of the 2011 Scion tC struts will work as will the 2012 Prius V struts and there is even a KYB Quick Strut (which has the complete strut, spring and strut mount) but their quality is questionable and those vehicles weigh a lot less than the HS which may affect longevity etc.
The only source for exact HS250h struts and shocks is OEM. There are discount lexus parts places online.
Note that the OEM rear shocks are only $50 each and the labor to install them is cheap. I installed mine myself. It is not that hard although the upper mount access inside the trunk is a bit strange.

That leaves the front struts. You best quality option is to get OEM or maybe KYB front struts (for the Scion tC or Prius V for less money) and have a shop install them. You need a spring compressor to swap the struts over. I would get new front strut mount bearings too as they are about $50 each for OEM which is the best quality and no extra labor when doing a strut swap, If you do enough of your own car repairs to remove the struts but do not want to deal with compressing the spring, call around to local independent repair shops as somebody will do this for you as it is not hard with a commercial wall mounted spring compressor and air tools. I did this once on a car where my spring compressor did not fit the struts. You will also probably need to replace the front sway bar links as they are usually rusted on and have to be cut off. Any aftermarket one will work.
