Default LCD Screen: any way to set it to always be in "night mode"?

I'm about 95% sure the answer to this is "NO!", but is there any way to set the LCD screen to permanently stay in the "night mode" (so things are roughly white on black, rather than black on white)?

I like the more subdued look of the screen at night (or when I am at a stop light under an overpass)....

I guess you can cover the sensor to make the car recognize that it's nighttime.

Then your headlights are constantly on, as well, no?

There is a setting to do it so it's always on.

Possibly not - I've noticed that headlights and the LCD display do not switch to night time mode at the same time.

I think will test later today - you just press the button - Display- then choose "DAY" also you can set contrast and bright. This is by memory . I will test when I go out today.

is there not an ON & AUTO setting for the lights? If so you can simply just turn the lights on instead of having it set to auto.

I just bought one today and felt like I had a flashlight glaring at me. That button will lessen the light? I'll have to try it tomorrow.

@JamesDemo: I never thought I'd see the day when people had to resort to aftermarket adhesive backed faux wood trim kits to get wood in a Lexus! Mr. Toyoda, are you listening?!

Unfortunately, that display button will let you turn OFF the night mode when you are in it, but doesn't allow you to turn it ON if you are in daytime mode...

I've only had my HS for a week now, so there is a LOT I don't yet know about it. However, I believe I read that the brightness control for the instrument cluster will cause the map screen to remain in one mode when the control is at it's maximum and in the other mode when it is at less than that. If only I could remember everything I read!!
