ehh braddahs. Quick questions... I bought some of that MX-7 Water Spot remover for my 08 SGM IS250. Got some slight water spots on my roof and wanted to know if that MX-7 stuff was clearcoat safe/eventually gonna ruin my paint. The bottle says it is but one braddah I know was saying go ahead and try. If not, what products do yall use to get rid of water spots? I was on the forumshawaii forum and I saw that someone used Meguiar's Scratch X to remove his water spots on his Merc.

I just use meguiers cleaner wax, never tried it on water spots on glass... unless your water spots are on the paint... if its on the paint, i dunno since i wipe my car down everyday BUT i would use scratch X or cleaner wax since i trust meguier products. Unfamillar with mx-7, sorry.

and dont worry about stock cars at meets, CL meets always have a couple of them, of course they dont remain stock by the next meet

i used megs paint cleaner, step 1, on my sun roof last night, worked well! i do rec. to wipe and repeat.

To elaborate, he means DONT put it on and rub the hell out of it. Put it on, rub *not hard, check if clean and if not put on again and rub. Keep repeating if nessesary.

I use mx7 to take off waterspots and it seems to get the job done.

I use detailing clay. You can find it at Wal-Mart, NAPA and most Auto shops. Just spray the lube and start claying the area in small side to side motion until you can't feel the bumps anymore. Make sure to wash your car first. If you drop your clay on the ground, throw it away and use another piece. You may scratch your paint if you use the dropped clay. The clay method takes long but makes the finish smooth as silk. Finish off with a nice coat of your favorite wax or polish. I use the Duragloss Total Performance Polish 105 and AquaWax by DuraGloss also as a quick maintenance wax. You can get these at PakShak.com Ranney is helpful and can also tell you what else he may recommend. He also give Club Lexus Members a little discount on his stuff and he is local. Hope this helps.

You can also use the Ultimate Detailing Machine and buff those water spots out. Ask Ranney as to what pads, compound, polishes he would recommend before trying. Good to take in small steps.

Yes, the MX-7 will work. Just make sure you use the one meant for paint (green lettering) and not the one for glass. It should be a liquid and not paste. Use it liberally and work it in with a sponge or towel until the spots disappear. I haven't had problems with it.

Note: This WILL remove all wax and protection you have, so make sure you wax or seal after using it. Good Luck!
