Default Any good machanics who can fix steering shake on GS300?

I have a 2000 GS300 with a steering shake problem. I had this problem before changing out my old tires. The guy at Firestone said my tire needed to be changed after he balanced and rotated my older tires. I then bought new Z rated BF Goodrich High Performance tires from Costco and had them balanced and installed. I am still getting the steering shakes at highway speeds only 55-60mph. I had them rebalanced and again to amke sure and still the same steering shake problem at highway speeds. I know this looks to be a common problem with the GS300. Wondering which shop on Oahu can take care of me other than the dealer or LXS Hawaii and not charge and arm and a leg. Any suggestions???

How many miles on your GS? Are you sure it is not the common ball joint problem? It also could be the control arm bushings. The rubber suspension related bushings on the Lexus cars can and do go bad as low as 60K miles. By 100K miles they could be totally shot.

Sorry, I don't know of any other independent mechanic shop to work on the Lexus. I probably would take my own car to LXS though.

it's likely a bent rim, see if you can borrow a set of rims/tires from a friend who
has a similar setup (MKIV Supra, MKIII supra, etc)

Could be a number of things.....bent rim, bad lower ball joint or tie rod, bushings, steering wheel pretensioner, etc...

Thanks for the info guys. I have about 84,000 miles one it. I had the brand new tires rebalanced 2 times at Costco and also had the steering pretention adjusted by LXS Hawaii. Still did not solve the steering shake. I'll have a mechanic checkout the lower ball joint, tie rods and bushings and possibly replace them if needed. Do you know what something like this would cost to have done?

P.S. I just bought the Daizen control arm bushing kit and lower ball joint and tie rod ends for my 2000 GS300 from TM Engineering. Came within a wekk and now looking for someone to install. Let me know if anyone knows someone who can do the job and installed the Daizen control arm bushing kit before.

Thanks, DanozLS430
