Default Auto Mirror Retraction at Shut Down

Hi.

I am new to the forum and just bought a GX-2015 in Dubai.
I have seen reviews where the side mirrors retracts at power off. Mine does'nt do that and couldn't figure out with the options.

I know the U.S. version do not have / offer auto folding mirrors. Not sure about other countries options but none of us here have it.

The 2015 USA models do offer auto folding mirrors. Look and see if you have an auto button. If so, turn on the auto button and they will automatically fold when you shut off your vehicle.

Thanks Craiq.
I do have a 2015 model, but couldn't find the Auto button. Hate to ask, but could someone send Pic?

Default Auto Mirror retraction at shutdown

I have a 2015 Luxury. The mirrors do not retract automatically. On the button where you adjust the mirror, in the top left corner you push the button and the mirrors will retract. On the opposite side of the adjustment, they will return to their normal position. My 2012 Lexus 460 AWD could be set to retract when the vehicle was in reverse or you could push the button to retract when you so desired, but they never retracted automatically.

There is a difference between retracting/folding the outside rear-view mirrors and having them tilt downward for a better view of the ground, especially when in reverse. My 2010 base GX 460 does not automatically retract/fold the mirrors although I can manually do so. It does offer the option to automatically tilt down in reverse, which is handy when backing into a tight parking space.

Retract/fold automatically when in reverse ... really?

Default Retracting/folding rear view mirrors.

Sanidel. Yes, mine could retract fold down, however you want to state it. Yes, they would also tilt down when in reverse, if you chose that mode. The person asking the question was not asking about tilting down in reverse, so I chose not to confuse him with data that he did not question. On any of the options I listed above, they could be changed by the car driver. I chose not to have my tilt down all the time in reverse, as I did not find it that useful and furthermore I saw it as another thing that could wear out quicker. Just like the electronic brake holder when at a red light.

My bad, my dealer told me they made the mirrors fold automatically for 2015. My 2014 does not have the auto feature, but my LS 460 does. The RX loaner they gave me also had the auto folding mirrors.

Was it a dealer personalization option?

Not to my knowledge, they told me it was added on the 2015 model. I'm surprised it wasn't offered on my 2014. When the dealer told me it was added for 2015, I was not happy... There has to be an auto button for them to fold at shut down.

Yeah, that feature (auto folding) is not on MY2015. I have to push the button. I never use this feature.

I can also confirm it was not added.

It's things like these which makes me appreciate the Tesla methodology.
