Hi I'm looking into trading my current SUV ('07 GL450) for a GX460. I love the drive and all but one feature I can't get over is the back door opening on the side. I'm comparing the GL450 and GX460 and would love feedback. Also what is a good price to pay for a new one (2015 or should I wait for the 2016 model) on the east coast? I'm in Northern VA.

Yes, it can be a bit of an inconvenience if you are parked close to a car/home etc...

I have become used to it and it does open and close quite easily on hills. The pop up rear window is handy if you just need to reach in and grab something within reach.

The inconvenience is worth it for all of the other benefits of the GX

Agreed, now that I have practical experience with this... this back gate is goofy as hell! It is an inconvenience, so you have to make an adjustment on how you do things... logistic etc. Since you're looking at the GL, why not consider the Lx?
