I currently drive an 08 LS 460 and I love the car. I also love driving my Wife's Pilot bc. its so high and interior is large.. Have any of you ever made the switch? My LS only has 63k miles on it, so I am hoping to trade it in, put in like 10k and get a used GX with low miles.

Any suggestions you can give me? I assume it takes Premium gas?

I have a 2009 LS460, and a 2014 GX460.
I bought the GX460 mainly because that we needed a SUV and I like the fact that the GX460 has the same smooth 8 cylinder engine that the LS460 has.
comparing the two,
the LS460 has much smoother ride quality, the GX460 is stiffer and a bit bumpy.
the LS460's seat is very comfortable, while the GX460's drivers seat is the most uncomfortable seat I have seen. I am not picky on car seat I can sit and drive 10 hours in my Camry's seat with no complaints, but my back get easily fatigued in the GX460's driver seat. The curve/shape of the GX460 driver's seat is just not smooth, it has a bump stick out to your lower back. pay attention to that when test drive.

other than the seat, GX460 is a solid truck, with nice ride quality, with quiet cabin and strong v8 engine.

Yes, takes Premium gas. MPG is 14-16, slightly better on highway.

I used to love my LS430, although I had a 2001. The seats became pretty uncomfortable in the LS as they ended up caving in over time.

GX seats IME are extremely comfortable. I'm really happy with the GX. I switched from an Audi, and of course it doesn't have that German engineering/handling, but I actually enjoy the overall experience of the GX much more. Commanding position for the driver, smooth V8.

My only gripe? I wish there was a way to easily remove the 3rd row of seats to get a bit more cargo capacity, but honestly that's a pretty small gripe.

Lastly, GX are selling like hotcakes these days, and it might be hard to negotiate a good deal.

GX is a good car ... just test drive the thing for an extended time and in a stop n go traffic ... the driver's seat is seriously a let down for me ...

same here, GX460 easily causes my back ache.
I am contacting Lexus USA to see if they can help correct this.

I had a 2007 LS460L and my wife has a 2014 GX. Both nice vehicles, the interior on the LS was nicer. I have no complaints with the seats in our GX, something must be wrong with the other poster's.

They are obviously very different vehicles but I'm happy with both if them. Any other questions, ask away.

Just to double check.... Have you set the lumber to its lowest setting on your seat? Maybe try adjusting the lumber all the up, then all the way back down, to ensure it is not stuck. While the GX seat isn't the most comfortable, it isn't bad in most folks opinion.

I personally find the seat very comfortable considering I have a very sensitive back. I would rate it up there with any luxury vehicle I've drove lately . Just my 2 cents......

Thanks for the note, yes I made sure the lumbar support is all the way in. it is not the lumbar support that is protruding, it is the seat's frame structure that is below the lumbar support that is a bit in the way. I'm usually easy-going with cars and have not complained about any other car's seat.

one other contributing factor might be because the bumpy ride of the body-on-frame structure. maybe i should lower the air pressure of the tires.

Why don't you just find any dealer, doesn't have to be a Lexus dealer and look for a used one, take it for a test drive.

the ls engine is not the same as the gx engine. They are same size, but thats where similarities end.
i have no issues with the seats and they are comfortable compared to most other cars ive had

The 1UR-FSE V8 engine, introduced with the Lexus LS 460 & LS 460 L luxury sedans in 2006 has a 4.6 liter (4608cc) displacement, which it gets from a 94 mm bore and 83 mm stroke. The engine includes D4-S direct injection and dual VVT-iE producing 385 hp (287 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 51 kg·m (500 N·m; 369 lb·ft) at 4,100 rpm.

1UR-FSE undergoes X-ray inspection and a CT (computed tomography) scan to ensure minimal deformation after the die-casting process. Camshafts are hollow to minimize weight.[2]

The 1UR-FE is based on the 1UR-FSE but lacks the D4-S direct injection technology. Originally used for Lexuses in the Middle East, it was introduced in 2010 in other markets to replace the 2UZ-FE engine in truck and SUV applications. This engine produces 347 hp (259 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 46.9 kg·m (460 N·m; 339 lb·ft) at 4,100 rpm in the Lexus GS and LS. For the Toyota Land Cruiser the engine produces 304 hp (227 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 44.8 kg·m (439 N·m; 324 lb·ft) at 3,400 rpm.
