You got a demo period and will need to call Sirius to reactivate. You will get a good first year rate that will self renew on your credit card and the rate will go up next year. I make a note to call before the renewal and get a lower rate.I asked to not be automatically renewed but it happens anyway. You will need to give your VIN to Sirius.

Default Also a surprise.

The receiver is an XM receiver in the 2014 GX, not a Sirius receiver. So the channel lineup is different if you don't get the maxed out version like the trial.

Was there not a company buy out or a merge? Why are we still dealing with the receivers and available channels? I thought the title was Sirius/XM the last I heard.......

Yeah, the merger may have changed billing and programming a little, but you cannot change the chips in the receivers which only do the type of compression they were built to do. Also, that hardware orbiting the earth may be a little expensive to modify too.

Anyway, the point is that the two system are not interchangeable as far as radios go, unless you have a dual receiver.

Never never never give them your credit card! They will auto renew you at the highest rate and good luck getting them to lower it. Even if you sell it they will renew you.

You can get $25.00 plus taxes and fees for 6 months but you have to call and cancel every 6 months to continue that deal. You can get $96.00 for a one year plan plus taxes and fees.

They will tell you there is a $3.00 fee for a paper invoice but they will void that fee if you ask.

The other stuff like weather and traffic are more than what I stated above but I don't use them so I can't tell you how much more.

Bottom line is they suck to deal with and they will rip you off every chance they get unless you stay on top of them.

I usually call them about a month before auto renewal and ask for cancel department and low and behold you will get a decent deal. My two cars the auto renew quote was about $350 for one xm select and one all access plus nav traffic. In the end for all that I paid about $220 incl fees taxes etc so less than $20/month. I listen to a lot of the channels so its worth it to me. took about 10 mins on the phone with them.

My 14 came with 12 month trial. Seems that should be a national standard. Check your paperwork.

My 13 came with 12 months on the radio and 3 months on the weather and traffic. I have already renewed the traffic but the weather is sort of a waste. Not sure about what I'll do about satellite. Oddly plain AM and FM actually sound a lot better than the satellite radio.

The 12 month was a December to remember promotion. After the January something it reverted back to the 3 month trial period.

Call and ask if they have any promotional rates, but you will likely have to give your credit card info to them. On the 2011 Grand Cherokee we had before the GX I got a year for $27. It would renew at something like $86 so I'd have to call and they'd give me the promo rate again and my account would have a $59 credit. It was a pain to call but the service was dirt cheap.

Never Never Never give them your CC, They dont need or require it for any promotional price. They will tell you its a $3.00 fee for paper billing but they will wave that fee if you ask. They will automatically bill your CC for the full amount when your up for renewal if you give a CC and it's a b*tch to get them to give you any credit back on your card. I've been using XM since 1999 and I've learned most of thier tricks. Rule of thumb is never give them a CC and don't let them fool you in to thinking you have to.

I give them my credit card for a one time charge and tell them not to keep it on file.
