pre crash system in the GX460
Hi all,
I'm owner of Lexus IS 300 and I'm happy with this car. Now l'm live in the middle east in the United Arab Emirate which is nice and peace country (thanks to God) now I want to buy new GX460 2014 but, full package cost 66000$ and other package cost 58000$. The lower package without rear screens, pre-crash system, control cruiser radar, mark levinson system.
Is pre crash is good system or just useless of money because my family agreed there is no need rear screen because kids have ipad and mobile phone to play in trip, I don't see any need for sound system but, family safety is most important point to me??
it worth to buy more 8000$ to buy it!!
please some body explain to me how pre crash works in GX460 2014 .
Thanks
S.A.

Not on the 2014s. Mine works without the cruise even turned on, nevermind engaged. Surprising, yet watched it in action two days ago. I was quite surprised and relieved. We were on vacation and I was a little too preoccupied with the sites. Thus the DWHUA.

Sorry, not a direct question to you just a general question.

Other car manufacturers i believe do have a form of pcs that stop the car.

In the video above, that is for the advanced pre-collision system in the LS which I didn't think the GX had. The Lexus website for the GX shows only pre-collision system is available. Which one does the 2014 GX have? It used to be just the pre-collision system and I was wondering if that has changed to advanced now.

here is another video of what the gx likely has.

The 2014 has the advanced system.
From Page 357 in the Owner's Manual:
PCS (Pre-Collision system)∗
When the radar sensor detects possibility of a frontal collision, the pre-collision
system such as the brakes and seat belts are automatically engaged to
lessen impact as well as vehicle damage.
◆ Pre-collision seat belts (front seat belts only)
If the system detects that a collision is unavoidable, the system will retract the
seat belt before the collision occurs.
The same will happen if the driver makes an emergency braking or loses control
of the vehicle. (→P. 29)
However, when the VSC system is disabled, the system will not operate in the
event of skidding.
◆ Pre-collision brake assist
When there is a high possibility of a frontal collision, the system applies
greater braking force in relation to how strongly the brake pedal is depressed.
◆ Pre-collision braking
When there is a high possibility of a frontal collision, the system warns the
driver using a warning light, warning display and buzzer. If the system determines
that a collision is unavoidable, the brakes are automatically applied to
reduce the collision speed. Pre-collision braking can be disabled using the
pre-collision braking off switch.

Interesting. It looks like advanced pre-collision system to me also. My 2012 owner's manual says the same thing so it isn't just a 2014 thing. I looked at the LS owner's manual and it says something pretty similar to the GX manual so I am not really sure what makes the LS so "advanced".
