Default Buy Lexus and pay with American Express

Just to let CL members know you can pay for your Lexus with American Express in full.
We did not know about that until salesman told us at time to pick up our car, otherwise we could save additional $300 with cash back from AExpress. Other forms of credit card limited only $2500.
I wish CL let other know about this agreement between Lexus and AEpress.

My dealer had a maximum of $3000.00 allowed on AMEX.

Last year Mercedes was allowed to pay 5000. That's very surprise to me this dealer allow to pay in full.
I paid 6000 Amex + 2500 visa + 500 deposit. We did not bring other Amex, credit cards with us and did not like to delay to pick up our car.

That really depends on the dealer, Lexus doesn't have anything to do with it. That dealer probably has a deal with AMEX to save on their card fees, etc.

I too would love to do that to get the membership rewards points, but I haven't bought a car in the last 15 years where the dealer has allowed more than $5k on any card, including AMEX.

Our dealer said we could charge the whole thing if we wanted. I asked about the fees but the finance guy didn't seem to care. This was for any card, we don't have an Amex.

We've charged the down payment on our cards on the last 3 cars we've purchased, I doubt that the dealership would let a buyer walk if the/she were ready to buy with CC in hand
