Default New GX460 Owner

Greetings!

I'm a car enthusiast and a huge fan of BMWs in particular. Just picked up a GX460 for my lovely wife yesterday (as BMW doesn't offer a body on frame SUV with real 4wd). We had a 3rd gen 4Runner for many years and loved it. My wife has been in a 3rd gen Acura TL for about ten years and has wanted to get back into an SUV recently. She wanted something luxury and I wanted a real truck based 4wd. We both wanted the quality and reliability we had in our 4Runner. So here we are. I'm very active on a few BMW forums and look forward to learning from the knowledge base here.

So far we love our GX!

You made a good choice and welcome. I am curious what is your reliability/experience with BMW?

I have been quite pleased with my BMWs. I still have 3. My 525i has almost 200K and I'd trust it to drive across country. They require a bit more maintenance that the Japanese cars I've owned, but the driving experience is worth it to me.

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I have the Starfire Pearl over Ecru (13 Prem) and you will love the color. There is a lot to learn about this unique vehicle and the guys on this forum have really helped me a lot. I have only had mine a month but am really enjoying it so far. Perhaps one of the best things for me that no one ever seems mention is that you do not "see yourself coming back" all the time. By that I mean since there are not a lot of GX's on the road they are sort of special. I have only one other around our area and the driver came over to where I was buying gas to welcome me to the "Lexus Family!" I hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine.

Thanks for the warm welcome y'all! We got the Starfire Pearl over Ecru as well. Wasn't sure how well my wife would like the Ecru. We knew we wanted white with a tan or brown interior. We drove from Memphis to St. Louis to check this one out. Much to my relief she loves the Ecru. Yes, I'm happy to not see us passing ourselves all the time.

One word to the wise, the ecru will pick up the blue from your jeans. I just wipe mine down with Meguir's leather cleaner when I see it and use the leather conditioner to keep the seats soft and make sure the leather does not dry out. Some folks swear by diluted Woolite to clean the seats. It's not a big thing, but you don't want to get ahead of you. Had a similar issue with the ivory leather in a Benz so it is not just a Lexus thing. Several threads about it on here if you search.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on it. I've not used the Meguir's, but I have used Mother's leather care in the past with great results.

I am sure Mother's will work fine. I use a lot of Mother's stuff too. I just used the Meguier's because it was on sale when I ordered some Cockpit Premium from Autopia, LOL.

Took possession of my new 2014 GX 460 yesterday. Starfire Pearl with Ecru, Premium with Comfort Pkg, BSM, Rear Cross Traffic, Remote Start. Love, love, love it. My wife had work she needed to finish yesteday so I was a little rushed for time and didn't get a chance to go over everything wih the delivery tech specialist. No worries though as I plan on stopping by this afternoon to go have that experience and pick up my all weather floor mats. Had 9.7 miles when I drive it home. I want to post some pics but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I've looked over the FAQ section and still am a little confused. Any help there? Thanks.

You finally brought her home! Congrats and drive it in good health!

BTW, I find it much easier to post pics using the ClubLexus "IB AutoGroup" Android app. Like you I cannot figure out how to post pics from the desktop.

Thanks. I'll download that tonight and see if that helps with the pics.
