For whatever its worth for folks considering these tires vs winter tires in cold climates. We drove back from Albany, NY to DC yesterday in this blizzard. Temps when we left Albany were 5 degrees. Temps here were about 33. The LTX M/S are very good in the snow for an all season tire, but they were definitely squirrely in Albany at temps that cold, oversteer when turning, etc. Back here in northern MoCo where we had 4 inches or so last night, about the same as was on the ground in Albany when we left the tires were unstoppable. Difference is 33 degrees vs 5 degrees.

Its a question of temps. At a temp of 5 degrees the rubber compounds in an all season tire are so hard you really are loosing a ton of grip. In a climate where you deal with temps like that, I would do winter tires vs the M/S year round personally.
