I recently had to use the third row seats and one of my passengers seen me take out the tonneau cover and put it in the garage. He then made the comment that a Lexus vehicle like the GX should have some type of storage in the vehicle. I didn't much about it until I was putting the cover back in the vehicle. I decided to actually take the time to read the yellow label on the cover bar. Some may already know this but I was pleasantly surprised to find out the bar collapses and can be secured on top of the carpeted mat in the back (just close to the rear door. There are slots in the mat so the velcro straps can secure the bar AND the carpeted mat. I was constantly re-adjusting the rear mat every time I opened the back door (no more). The tonneau bar has two buttons that allow you to shorten the bar so it can be secured. It only took three years to find this out, man do I feel foolish!

I don't have the cover but tell me more about the rear carpet? Everytime I open the rear door I have to readjust that damn thing.

The carpet has two slots on each side so the velcro straps can pass through and secure the bar and carpet. You would need to use something the size of the bar (appox 2"X 2") to hold down the carpet.

I was super annoyed by the sliding carpet too... until I've got Weathertech cargo mat. It has pre-made holes for the velcro straps and because the edges go up too it doesn't slide all that much.
