2014 GX460 Price Paid
#243
Ethan,
Here's my opinion...
Fair price for car: $53,570 (I am assuming the MSRP you listed includes the $900 delivery fee)
Tax: $3348
Dealer Fees: $582
-----------------------------------------
OTD: $57,500

- Headlamp Washer
- Mahogany Wood & Leather trimmed

For $51,600 before TTL.
It only had 4 miles on it. Getting front window tint and clear bra tomorrow.

Ethan,
It looks like Steve printed out the features and prices that others got, and took them into the dealership and got them to price match the price of the car. You should definitely give this a try.
You will of course need to add 6.25% tax, and the ~$600 of dealer prep and registration fees, but it sounds like Steve got a great price by having them price match.

Craziest thing happen to me.
They promised me a price over the phone, $52,500 drive out. I go into the purchase the vehicle drive it around again, didn't have certain things i wanted like wood grain and different wheels. I was told we can do the price on this car and this one only. I still agreed and said okay even though it was missing small things I kind of wanted. I sit down with sales guy and he gives me some bs about if i can pay him 300-400 more. I'm like we agreed on this price over the phone you told me to come in and it was going to be a quick process. He said yes yes don't worry I will take care of it.
His Manager comes to talk to me and says "I don't know who gave you this quote, but we cannot do this price" He sits down and tries to negotiate a different price with me. At this point I get up and say Thank you and leave.
I spent 2 hours thinking that I was going home with a new car that day, the sales guy was assuring me that they were going to get the car ready yada yada yada.
These are terrible business practices. I hope no one else has to go through what I went through. I went to the dealer 3 times previously trying to negotiate and left. So the last time before I went I made sure over the phone that it was going to be a done deal. He begged me to come in and promised me the quote.
This is at Sterling McCall Lexus in Houston, Texas Southwest Freeway
On another note I might be stopping my search for the GX 460, and looking towards maybe getting a 4 Runner Premium I was quoted 38k drive out 0% apr . If anyone here knows anything about those let me know. Thanks!

Yume,
That is a bummer. I am surprised the let you walk over a $300-$400 difference, especially after they agreed to the price.
When I made a deal over the phone, I made sure that they emailed me the build sheet showing the vin, features, packages, etc., and a purchase sheet that showed all the pricing (car price, trade price, dealer fees, and tax. Only then, did I make the drive. When I walked in, they sold me the car exactly at the price we agreed to.
Getting things in print may have helped, although you would think that price confirmation over the phone would suffice. This was supposed to be a Lexus dealership afterall, not Big Bobs Auto and Grill.
I can't help with the 4Runner questions. Good luck in your search.

Responded to your PM. I was offered invoice at Sterling in Houston and about 400 below invoice at Sewell. You have to find the right sales person or you'll get the standard high demand low inventory BS answer. In Texas, Sewell has the best selection and best prices and I researched months before buying my GX. Earlier this year my wife bought an ES at Lexus of Austin. Those losers tried to give me $1800 off for my loyalty. Steer clear of Lexus of Austin.

Can you please PM your salesperson contacts at Sewell?
