Default Michelin LTX® M/S2

I went to Michelin's website looking for the LTX® M/S2 tires and they said the tire does not meet the vehicle's specifications. I am going to need tires very soon and I want to buy these, can any one tell me if these tires can definitely be used with the GX?

I purchased a set of four from COSTCO.

Koz has them on his GX as well. I will have them on my GX in about a year.

The stock Michelins have worn even, but if I had a choice, I would put the LTX M/S2's on mine. I think the stock Michelins wear too fast, they have a lot lower tread wear rating

Technically the OEM spec calls for an “H” rated tire (130 mph speed rating), the LTX MS2 are only “T” rated for 118 mph. The funny part is the GX has a speed limiter that will cut the engine way before 130 mph. There is no need to be concerned about using a “T” rated tire.

The OEM tire has a 440 tread wear rating where the LTX-MS2 have a 720 rating. They should last 40% longer. The LTX-MS2 has proven to be an extremely good wearing tire (one of the best, if not the best).

Thanks, now I can have some peace of mind knowing the real reason why it was not recommended by Michelin.

I checked the prices of both the LTX and the OEM HP tour and the HPTour is more expensive on the Tire Rack website. How come if the LTXis a better tire?

Any OEM tire is going to be more expensive. My LS comes with Bridgestone Turanza's and they are known for being a horrible tire that wears quickly. Other tires from Bridgestone are much cheaper including the Turanza Serenity and they are a much better tire.

Thanks for replying. Normally, when a product is more expensive it is better than the less expensive product, that's why I was confused. I am due for a new set soon and I am trying to get the most out of the OEM's without jeopardizing safety.

The LTX MS2 is a great tire. I've used them on SUVs going back to the 90s, very smooth and quiet with great grip and treadwear is like iron. I've had LTX's with over 100k on them and with plenty of tread still...

What comes on the GX now? Latitude Tours? Thats what came on our Jeep too...the LTX is a much better tire.
