Default GX Successor, the TX

As I mentioned a few times, the GX is on a 6 year product cycle. Platform changes are a huge deal given the regulatory and logistics challenges. These activities are planned YEARS in advance and are a huge expense, as such are not taken lightly.

Mild styling updates (most likely to mimic the rest of the brand and infotainment tech) for 2014 and to the new platform, called the TX, in 2016, which sounds like it will be a crossover platform.

This also highlights the fact that dealers, especially salespeople, rarely if ever know what's going on strategically at Lexus.

I will believe it when it happens. If anything is converted into a crossover, I would think it would be the LX!

I am sure there will be a 3 row cross over added in the next two years but I doubt they get rid of the GX or LX the same year. Toyota has 3 SUVs that are different in style, performance, looks and price but take up about the same garage space and seat five adults and cargo comfortably (Highlander, 4Runner, Rav4). Then there is also the FJ, Venza, Sequoia and Land Cruiser in the SUV/Crossover line up. Why would Lexus think that they have to get rid of one SUV to add another to the line up? I just don't see it happening but who am I?

New model designation might suggest that GX is there to stay. Otherwise why not reuse the GX name? People who want a real truck will want a GX.

That has to be the uglyest Lexus/Toyota ever made. Looks like a RX station wagon. This is going to be a HUGE fail!

That is not how it is going to look guys. chill.

It is a prototype lexus made in 2004-2005 IIRC. No spindle grill, no "L finesse" LEDS, etc etc.

Wait a hairy minute! This image has been running around the forums for like 10 years now. There's nothing new to that image above.

Agreed. That's the LF-X concept from 2006

WHat I would really like to see is Lexus bring out a full size truck :0 take the Tundra and do some Lexus mods to it, throw in the LX motor/tranny combo to have AWD and there you go, I think they would sell real well--I know I would be in line to buy one.

I seriously hope they keep selling the GX in the West and not simply replace it with the TX. I have little doubt GX will continue in the Middle East/Russia where people actually do need these tough and well built vehicles. If they drop the GX we can thank all the outcries about unibody and better fuel economy ;-)
