I plan on MS/2 after OEMs wear out too. Moreover, I called my dealer and they had no issue installing these.

OEMs are H-rated while MS/2 are T-rated. T-rated tire, by the way, exceeds top rated speed for GX posted on lexus.com which is 110MPH. Not sure if anyone here actually tested the speed limiter and it's true.

Because of liability reasons all tire manufactures will only recommend the exact same rated tire the OEM uses when new. In this case the OEM speed rating is 130 mph and the GX cannot even reach this speed (speed limiter kicks in at approx 110 mph (I've hit this limit). The LTX MS2 is perfectly fine to run on the GX!

Right so MS/2 are rated faster than GX can ever go if 110mph speed limiter is obeyed.

No the "H" rated 130mph HP (OEM size which is why they cost more) are rated higher then the GX can go. The MS2s are "T" rated (118mph), which is perfectly fine for the GX.

BTW - I'm running the LT LTX-MS2s that are "R" rated (106 mph).

The speed limiter kicks in at approx 115mph causing the engine to shut down and will not allow higher speeds.

OK so it's just about pushing the limit for the T but not quite.

Any other differences between T and R rated ms/2?

What you have to know is that the speed rating is not a limit that if you reach or exceed the tire will not fail. You would have to exceed that limit for an extended period of time. So for the few seconds you may exceed that limit the tire is not going to fail. Not only that, who is actually going to ever reach these speeds in an SUV. The most important safety precaution you need to practice is keeping the tire properly inflated.

Interesting fact - Most off-road tires are only speed rated from 70 to 89 mph.

There is a huge difference between the T and R rated tires. The "T" rated tires are "P" (Passenger) tires that are "SL" load rated (at 44psi max) that can carry approx 2271 lbs. The "R" rated tires are "LT" (light truck) tires that are "E" load rated (at 80psi max) that can carry approx 3415 lbs. The LTs are also Green X tires. They have a lower rolling resistance, for better gas mileage.

I see now... It's a pity R don't come with P265/60R18 OEM size... but the H do. If one wants to keep the stock size -- any opinions on H-rated MS/2 vs stock Latitude HPs?
