I don't think they are being cheap but rather introducing a change too soon can upset existing customer base so they have to carefully balance it. Not too soon but not too late

A version is ok with me but if it was only offered in a V6 I wouldn't be driving one.

In the 4Runner (which is 500 lighter), the V6 is a dog unless you push it and it only gets a couple more MPG. I'm sure they could squeeze 20 more HP (the Toyota 4.6 has 9 more HP), but that will not happen. They will keep the Lexus 4.6 buttery smooth!

Personally i am not a fan of the Lexus Spindle design. I found a LX with a spindle design in tahoe and parked my 2012 next to it for compare. I liked the 2012 design better. Albeit a more powerful engine is needed as this v8 really works hard in the mountains. Every time i drive the GX i am surprised on the low road noise and the ride quality it's superb.
Glad i got the 2012 GX for my wife.
