San Antonio to Minneapolis then, Central & Northern WI and back. 21 MPG overall with speeds approaching 90 on I35 and provided ample power through the hills of the Ozarks. Back seat stuffed with luggage and a 95 lb black lab in the rear. Excellent comfort and stability through wind and torrential rain. The GX460 made for a very enjoyable trip.

Great road trip story, Tnorling ... thanks for posting. The GX 460 comes into its own on the open road, especially when it can "stretch its legs" for long distances at high speeds. Besides the black lab in the rear and you, how many passengers on this trip?

We've decided to drive to Sanibel this year so we'll have our own road trip to report.

I just completed a 1000 mile trip to Niagara Falls with four adults, a dog, gear and pulling a 4200 lbs trailer. I averaged 15 mpg and all I can say is the GX is the MOST comfortable and stable tow vehicle I have ever been in. What a pleasure it is to drive!

Also, I’m remodeling my basement and I had to carry 55 cases of (Pergo) laminate flooring approx 30 miles. I folded the back seats and loaded the vehicle up to the roof (should have taken a pic). After loading the vehicle the rear was way down and I was very concerned about whether the vehicle could handle all this weight (especially 30 miles). After starting the vehicle, the air springs leveled the vehicle and trip home was walk in the park. I was able to travel at all the speed limits and the vehicle rode like it was just carrying seven people. This vehicle is AMAZING!

In May, my wife and I took off from FL for a multiple month road trip, stopping for a week or two along a variety of locations. The basic trip is to Colorado, but we took a shortcut through MI and IN. I have it packed, including gear for some mountain weather, two mountain bikes (broken down and packed tightly), cooler, etc.

The GX works very well for a trip like this. Fully loaded, I have been getting right at 20-22 at 70 mph, it is quiet, comfortable solid...even with the full load. Driving a variety of passes in CO, it is nice to have a really solid feel. I don't really test the off road capabilities, but I have definitely been into situations demanding the 4WD features. I stay away from the boulders, but when I find myself in some deep holes, sharp inclines and messy trails it is nice to be in a truck.

There are far better SUVs for off road performance, and better handling SUVs from the smooth roads, but for us the GX strikes a nice balance.

On the negative side; for us, the third row seat is a waste of space. Also, I am disappointed in the accuracy of the GPS system. My phone is far superior in creating the most efficient route.
