Micro Dust and Pollen Filter ... what is that?

It is a poorly documented, but useful function of the climate control system as tersely explained on page 310 of the Owner's Manual appended below.

That describes a very specific purpose, but we have found another use. Imagine taking off in the morning after a hot shower, the hair dryer and the usual hustle and bustle of getting the day going. You start the GX and you want air around your face so you don't break out in a sweat! That's what the Micro Dust and Pollen Filter function does well ... gently blows air at our faces and around our heads even before the climate control system has had a chance to cool down or heat up the cabin.

It's become our only "manual override" of the climate control system as otherwise we leave it on Auto at all times, even at shutdown. Try the Micro Dust and Pollen Filter function the next time you are rushing to get to work or an appointment ... does it work as well for you as it does for us?

The only time I use mine is when I'm behind a diesel or someone smoking a cigar in front of me (both give me a headache).

There are many dead squirrels here in the summer, and they give off a very pungent and awful smell. I use the pollen filter to "neutralize" that odor if the auto recirculating air system doesn't kick in quick enough.

Is this the same as the Cabin Filter in the glove box?
