What I don't understand is why the equally equipped Mercedes GL is close to $90K. Serious question, is the GL as good as the LX? I love the looks of the GL but with the same options as my GX the price is $85K MSRP which is $20K more than my GX.

No, IMHO Mercedes vehicles get overpriced very quickly when options are added...

I have to admit; no one needs that kind of power but, my God, it is intoxicating!

If you lease or don't plan on getting a new vehicle before the warranty is up, you could/should get anyone of these vehicles. If you plan on keeping this vehicle out of warranty I would get used to the looks of the LX. I personally do not like the looks of the LX, even with the new spindle grill.

I totally agree, except about the spindle grill. I think it looks better with that new grill. Maybe in about 5 years when I get around 200k miles on my 100 series and it is time for the timing belt and water pump I will buy a 200 series with around 80k miles on the clock from AZ/NV and Lexus maintained. Like one owned by a Mall Cruiser

I agree, the spindle grille looks better but the rest (exterior) of the truck still looks unappealing.

Everytime ive walked into a Mercedes dealer I walk right out, once you can get over the fake leather then add HID headlights and some other options they price themselves right out and I go to Lexus.

To be fair though, Lexus is starting to do the same thing...

Not exactly..

You have to remember there are many buyers that do not want all the bells n whistles and are looking for the least expensive (base model) just because they want that particular vehicle. This is why you see a base version without all the bells n whistles. The difference between Lexus and Benz/BMW is the higher priced version of Lexus vehicles (GX Premium in this case) comes standard most all bells n whistles where Benz/BMW still nickel and dimes you.
