Cabin Air Filter ... Regular vs. Premium
Just had our 2010 GX 460 18 month/15,000 service at 13,524 actual miles and requested they replace the cabin air filter. I checked the filter the night before the service ... it was a pleated white filter that was starting to accumulate dirt, plus leaves and dead bugs. I checked when our GX was returned and they did replace the filter, but with a pleated BLACK filter!
I read somewhere that there are two versions of the cabin air filter ... regular (white) or premium (black) that is impregnated with activated charcoal. True or false?
Regards,
SaniDel

Found a comparison online:

The black Fram filter uses Arm & Hammer baking soda! So, where does the black color come from as nothing is mentioned about activated charcoal?

I haven't checked the original cabin filter but I know it uses the same cabin filter of an ES350. I changed my wife's filter and it was white. I purchased the Bosch P3205 cabin filter which is identical to the OEM.
