Default Fog lights with high beams.

I have seen some post of having the fog lights as DRl, but it required a switch. Is there a simple modification to make the fog lights work with the high beams? On other sites I have seen a modification to relay and wiring that allowed a 4 Runner to have the fog lights on with the high beams

I ordered from www.webelectricproducts.com their DRL-1 module.

You can download the installation instructions. I only used the wires I needed. The module is designed to control two sets of lights.

No switch is necessary unless you need to revert to OEM status for whatever reason.

I originally installed the module with a switch, but disconnected it from the switch as I needed the switch for something else. Actually for a gadget that is supposed to keep the deer off the highway at night.

The Fog Lights are ON whenever the ignition is on. If you want to use only the Fog Lights at night, you can turn ON your Parking Lights so that you have Tail Lights.

How about a rough wiring diagram on how you tied it into the GX. Little help!

I don't know if that would work and a difference between GX470 and GX460, but here is one approach they have done it on previouse gen and 4runner without special modules.

Yes, I 've seen this but it seems to just keep the fogs on with the high beams.

On pictures shows that it works with parking lights too. Either way, I would like to find a diagram how someone did installon on the GX as well.

Use from the DRL module, five wires only.

The Green goes to a Ground.

The Yellow goes to a Positive when the ignition is on.

Then I cut the wire that goes to the Fog Lights. The cut-end that continuous to the Fog Lights, I connect to the Brown wire. The other cut-end I connect to the Red wire.

The Blue wire goes to a toggle switch to Turn Off the module.

That will do it.

To clarify, the yellow goes to a 12v source when ignition is on.

Are you cutting the wires to both fogs? If so, how are you attaching them, both to the brown and red wires?

You attach the blue wire to a switch, that's it! One wire to the switch?

The fogs are NOT wired separately. One wire goes to both of them. From Drivers Side to Passenger Side.

You attach the blue wire to a switch, that's it! One wire to the switch? Yes, it turns OFF the module, reverts to OEM.

A switch either opens or closes a circuit by using two wires. By attaching one wire to it, nothing will happen. I don't understand!

Connect a wire to the other side of the switch to the same source as the yellow wire.

ok, i am really lost here. where are you installing this module? inside the drivers compartment under dashboard, at bumper, near battery? this thread is really confusing.
does this mod allow you use the oem turn switch on the stick to control the fogs, or are u adding a new switch? Or is it the oem DRL switch that is now turning on the fogs here

If youre adding a new switch, makes sense, if not, thats where i get lost.

I would like to be able to turn on the fogs independently of ALL the lights on the front with the oem switch.

The modification used on the 4th gen will not work on 5th gen 4runner, so u can be sure it will not work on our gx 460.

here is same topic on 4runner.org. Harper made his own circuit bypassing the oem fog circuit
