I ended up paying invoice on a 2011 special order premium (waited almost 4 months). If your dad has a IS350 and gets the valve spring recall done he will get an $1500 coupon towards a new purchase.

put together a pricing report on edmunds.com. That will give you 'invoice'. Try to get as close to that as possible.

Some folks got pretty close to invoice, some didn't. It depends on your local market and region.

It also depends on trade-in.

his is350 is a lease return his sales guy called him and asked him to come in see if they could work a deal to get him out of it early. I'm not sure if lexus gives any money for a recall on a lease but i'll ask him. Just asked he doesnt know if he got that done or not.

I got it for $200 over invoice when I got the 2010 as soon as it came out. There were no incentives. Don't negotiate until you know what the invoice is.

With the 2011 with the $1000 loyalty you should be easily below invoice. You need to finance at least $5k with Lexus to get it. Just ask for it during the negotiations.

I doubt you will see below invoice. Anything around invoice is a great deal, many have paid near retail.

I agree, I think it depends on the climate where you live. Here in the Midwest, they don't sell for even close to invoice. I paid MSRP - 2500.00.
In a warm climate, I'm sure they make a lot better deals on SUV's. I'm sure I could make a better deal now that it's been out for a year. I purchased mine when they first came out. I wanted to trade my 2009 BMW X5. It was in the shop over ten times in one year. My GX 460 has only been in once to install my wheels and to have the VSC recall done.

I disagree. You can get a great deal anywhere. I have bought cars/SUVs in the south (Nashville, Atlanta, Raleigh) and midwest (Indianapolis and Chicago) and always paid close to an invoice or below (even if a custom order or a new model out). Geography never made a difference. Key is not to negotiate with sales people but only with managers and be willing to go pick up the vehicle not at the closest dealer (next town, etc.). Every deal was closed before I have ever visited a dealer. Know what you want, the cost and be willing to walk away if you are not getting the deal you want. They always will call you back to earn your business.

Sticker on mine was 65,512 paid 59,012. I shopped 4 dealers and went to the one my family had previously had dealings with. This dealer also happened to have the right price and was the only dealer that had the one I wanted on site. Like Luke said close the deal before you ever set foot on the lot. When I arrived the paper work was ready and the car was being washed. I live in the south and think I got a decent deal maybe not bottom dollar. (purchased in the Dallas area). Drove 4 hrs to purchase vehicle only passed one other very small Lexus dealer on the way who would only come off sticker 4k and had to wait for delivery of GX.

The GX is a very limited production vehicle. Inventory and timing are key to getting a good deal. If their inventory is low and the vehicle is selling well you will not see invoice. I got invoice but I bought mine from the largest selling Lexus Stealer in the world.

I bought a GX460 Premium with rear entertainment, navigation and few other options. My sticker was $66,279 and I paid $60,000. I also had the joy of paying $4,800 in sales tax. 8% total sales tax, 7.25% to the state of Illinois and .75% to Cook County. Lovely. Like gxgonz posted above, do your deal before you even get into the dealerhip. I went onto Edmunds.com, and plug in your options, you'll get an invoice price, fair market price, and a MSRP price. Edmunds listed my fair market price at $62,000 and the invoice at $59,000. I had talked with another Lexus dealer who didnt' have a GX460 in stock to sell me and as a goodwill gesture offered to look up the invoice on the GX460 I was making a deal on at another dealer, and indeed, Edmunds was right on, the invoice was $59,050. I feel I got a good deal. Right after you get your pricing on Edmunds, then just click to request quotes and I got very fast responses within minutes of sending my quote request and the prices were aggressive. SOOO much better than trying to do a deal at the dealership. We also had our deal done outside of the dealership. Much less intimidating especially if you are a nice guy like me!
