Question: Buy now or next year?
I am about ready to buy a new GX, but can easily wait another year. Are there any likely new options for next year, or does this year's GX have about all that I would want? I have looked at the new GX options and it looks like it has most of what any new luxury car would have for options.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Year 2 of a model year is 2011. You MIGHT see a MINOR refresh of something in 2012, but doubtful anything worth waiting for. Prices probably won't be going down.
What would you hope that it gains in 2012, but doesn't already have?
The only thing I *wish* it had was a panoramic sunroof. I would have thought I wanted a power rear hatch, but I find the barn door to be totally awesome and I don't wish for it to be power after all.
Flexibility on timeframe gives you the ability to be picky on colors, options, and the negotiations process.

Not sure if you already took the plunge and bought your GX. I believe Lexus/Toyota does not implement any if at all significant changes to their truck-based SUV that being LX/GX, Land Cruiser from year to year. I don't recall seeing a face lifted GX or LX. Instead they do major platform/model changes every 8-10 years. The 2nd generation GX was introduced in 2010 as the previous generation was in 2002......8 years. The LX 2000 and now latest LX in 2008.
With that said, the ONLY change I see in our 2011 GX that was different than the 2010 model we saw at the lot was that the 2011 no longer has the "Lexus" logo on the left side of the rear barn door. It now only has the "L" logo on the center and the "GX 460" emblem on the ride side.

On the GX470 the only thing I can think of that changed throughout the model was the addition of a USB port, exterior color options, tail lamps, chrome handles and minor change to the fog lights and lower grill. All of these things are very minor and to most people a 2006 looks like a 2009. If anyone can think of any other changes chime in.

Yes. Also, Bluetooth was added in 2005 with a bump to the then-new Gen 3 (I think) navigation.
2006 added stitched leather to the parking brake handle
2007 saw the upgrade of the changer to handle MP3 and possibly DVDs
2008 saw the change to chrome door handles and roofrack, extra chrome inside around the ML tweeters, chrome strip on the back window, darker wheels and clearer taillight lenses. Also, the wood trim is darker (and not as stylish, IMHO as 2003-2007).
Somewhere in there an Aux port was added. Not sure about USB - I thought they first did that for the 2010 GX460.

You may see minor/cosmetic changes after a major re-design (2010). Usually the second year will correct any problems or customer/rag mag gripes. As the re-design goes through its life cycle it evolves by incorporating new technologies (examples, engine & trans improvements) and minor cosmetic changes. This is why the last year of a re-design cycle is usually the vehicle's best year. The problem is the next major re-design makes the last year’s model look old.
