Here's a good test drive review from Lexus Magazine of the 2010 GX 460. The reviewer definitely put it through the ringer...driving it 1,200 miles and during a massive rain and hail storm. She does a good job of describing how it handled the elements and highlighting some of the new features.

Article made me laugh. Looks like she works for the marketing department of Toyota/Lexus. It is like reading an advertisment or a sales materials. The best part is the 23 miles per gallon average. In a perfect weather driving on the highway I don't get this and she got while driving up to 11,000 elevations, three snow storms. I have averaged once 20 miles per gallon while driving non-stop 300 miles distance at a constant speed of 70 on a level road in a nice sunny weather. Driving 60% of the time on the highway, I am happy if I get an average of 13 miles per gallon.

Ok, had my laugh. Time to get back to work...

When I read this article, I immediately dismissed it as Lexus propaganda, and that's what I've come to expect from Lexus Magazine.

The writer says "23 mpg rating for a mid-size SUV is excellent".

Clearly, the GX is not rated at 23 mpg. Yes, it's possible to get 23 mpg in the GX 460 over a short trip with no hills, but that's certainly not representative.

I see this as a conscious attempt to mislead consumers.
