Default Trailer Brake Controller

Installed a TEKONSHA, PRODIGY, P2, Electric Trailer Brake Controller.

Haven't used it yet, but comes highly recommended.

Prodigy works GREAT!

Where did you mount it? You know you have to be able to reach while you are driving.

Look at the first post.

Works perfectly in that position for me.

It's hard to tell where it is, can you access it while driving?

The Controller is above my right leg. Easy access.

I installed mine and picked up a camper. A block away from where I picked it up I adjusted the setup. I had no idea how it would work. Sure enough, about a mile down the road, on a 50 mph highway some idiot pulls right out onto the highway (In front of me) without looking. I had to slam on the brakes. I was waiting to see the trailer come flying by. To my surprise, the vehicle and trailer stopped just like there was no trailer and strait as an arrow. The Prodigy is worth every penny!

I don't have my brake controller yet, waiting for UPS to deliver.

I bought the Tekonsha 90195 P3 Electronic Brake Control

I notice the factory jumper harness has additional wires I would normally think would not need to be connected to the brake controller. Will try to read up before it gets here. Looking to travel this evening.

Looks like the control unit is quite large, are you going to mount it in the same location as the previous post shows?

I mounted it in the same side but higher because I wouldn't have been able to reach it. It is basically below the traction control button. It is still pretty small. I think you'd find the dimensions are tiny.

I'll take a day light picture.

Ha! Tecman that is a really close-up picture, and the thing does look big huh, but it's normal size- about 2-1/2 inches wide I guess...

Default electronic brake controller installation harness and location

I called Camping World to install a brake controller and they do not touch the Lexus after they bothced a job and fried a modul. Now I am afraid to try it myself. I thought the wiring harness was plug and play but he said something about needing to program the computer.

So, who installed their own harness and was it plug and play? and do you find the controller installed at your right knee gets in the way? Any tips?

Thank you

Here is a good How To... he installs in console so your install might a lot faster.

I just bought the harness and it was a simply plug and play. Works great for me. I like to may my controller higher up so I can manually brake the trailer if I need to (downhill descents/stops etc). It does not get in the way of my right let at all.

I installed my brake controller in the center console so that it would not be at my leg at all. It is hidden and out of the way, and if I need to manually brake I can just open the lid.

need some help with a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 that I just installed with the Tekonsha 3040-P wiring harness. it's plug and play and the break control unit powers up, but I keep getting an n.c. (not connected) error.

my GX is a 2019 an I just had the hitch installed a few months ago so everything is clean. the 7 pin connection if for a boat trailer and I also clean it out.

any ideas why the Prodigy P2 is NOT recognizing the trailer? an option I could do is try to wire the break controller to the Lexus supplied adapter that is in the glove box, but not sure what wires match to what. the P2 has a black, white, red and blue so what wires do they match up to the Lexus supplied wiring?

any other thoughts???
