Default Anyone switched from 1st gen to 2nd gen?

My Lease on GX470 ends in couple of months... so I went to test drive new GX last week...

Car runs smoother and I liked all new upgraded features and everything... really liked fold flat 3rd low...

But, what happened to seating position??
There was almost no head room at normal position and if I lower the seat... the steering position's too high??
I just could not get comfortable driving position in new car...

I'm having second thought... looking at Range Rover right now.

Yes, I switched from the 1st gen to the 2nd gen.

I also had a problem with the seat/steering wheel adjustments on my first test drive.

I then took the GX 460 for an extended test drive and was able to get everything set like I wanted it.

Not quite the same as the GX 470, but I've gotten used to it.

Yes! I can't tell you how many times I hit my sunglasses (which are usually on top of my head) on the ceiling! And, I am only 5'2"!!

My poor DH is 6 feet and has bashed his head numerous times LOL

It takes a bit of getting used to...

If you're looking at RR, did you consider looking at the LX570? We loved our GX470 and as much as we liked the GX460, we couldn't get past the reduced cargo space for a much higher price tag.

Can't go wrong with either, though, particularly if you sort out the driving position issue on the GX.

IMO LX is way over priced right now and too big. And, my wife doesn't like it... thank god. ^^;;
I also heard there will be no special on new GX either any time soon...

I'm going to test Range Rover and RR Sport this weekend.
We'll miss 3rd row seating and reclining second row. But, I think I can count how many times we used 3rd row...

You might try the new Infiniti QX. I'm going to test drive one the next time I'm in St. Louis. We don't have a local dealer here...

I think the Range Rover has quite a bit more room inside, and that's a good thing for tall folks with long legs. I'm 6-foot and I fit in my GX460 without problems; I've got about a hand-width of space between the roof and the top of my head, my knees are not touching the steering column, and my arms are at a 120 degree angle when I hold my steering wheel at 9 & 3 o'clock position. I could see a problem if you were over 6'4" but for anyone under that height legroom and headroom should be fine.

Oh and one more thing: I LOVE THE RANGE ROVER, except reliability is way more important than luxury to me.

you made the right decision. any land rover product looks great and has all the amenities out the wazoo plus a price tag to match but......they are notorious for all sorts of problems. i could expound on it but i'm not in the mood to....tooooooooooooooooo many bad memories.

Default uncomfortable peddle

I hear you on 'getting comfortable' in the cabin. My problem is not head room, (i'm 6', 190lb) it's in the gas peddle.

the gas peddle is extremely narrow and short and I constantly have to re-adjust my foot.

I love almost every other feature and cosmetic about the new gx but when i'm driving more than 20 miles, my right leg hates the car.

is this just me? It seems as if I'm only able to press on the gas with the 'toe' of my foot. I can't rest my whole foot on the peddle and cruise. Especially with dress shoes.

I don't believe I have overly large feet (size 11.5 men US)

I almost made the switch too. was considering a 08 Range Rover HSE with only 7500 miles. I was willing to take the risk because it had a warranty, but the warranty was only until 2013. Now came the price. They wanted 54k for it and would not budge on the price.

So it became a no brainer.. take a risk on a used RR for more money and less warranty? Or a brand new GX for 52.5k? gee, let me think.

the Range Rover is a sexy car though. I see them everyday as there is a dealer just down my street.

Let's see, a choice between one of the most reliable and the worst reliable! I guess if it is under warranty.

Thanks guys... it was an easy decision when I got the price..
$770 per month(GX) vs $950 per month(X5) vs $1350 per month(LR)
