The price increase may help the resale value of our 1st gen GX's. I think the 1st gen design is nicer than the new 460. I agree with some others that it looks like a 4 Runner. I plan to hold onto my 2008 for a long time.

Yeah I wonder if the new 2009 models still on the lot have gone up in price? Some people may race to get a new 2009 before they're all gone. When buyers arrive on the lot and compare prices and compare looks....I bet every new 2009 will be gone soon!

At first the GX looks like the 4runner, but after looking at them side by side, there is not comparison! Personally, I would not be satisfied with the 4runner over the GX 460 or 470. The GX 470 is more than suitable, especially now, but the design (imho) was long overdue for a refresh.
Going back to the dealer to take a look for the 4th time since the introduction ceremony...it's getting harder and harder to resist. Besides, price, please help convince me not to get the GX 460.

I don't think one can negate the price when considering the GX or any car for that matter unless money is truly no object, but if that were the case then the LX570 should be at the top of your list. IMO there are better bangs for the buck out there. Pricing of the new GX has pushed it into another price stratosphere where there is some stiff competition e.g. 2009/2010 Landcruiser, Toyota Sequoia Platinum, Infiniti QX56...
As for looks, it's personal taste I guess... Although it may look less like a 4 runner next to a 4 runner, but it looks more like a 4 runner next to the 1st Gen GX IMO.

Funny, I was just over at the Toyota Dealership checking out the Landcruiser and Sequoia Platinum. These both have the 5.7 that I was hoping for in the GX premium and pricing is similar. The GX does get better MPG, but runs on premium unlike the Toyota engines which run on regular. Therefore overall fuel costs should be similar also. 15 mpg Toyota 5.7, 18 mpg lexus 4.6 This give the Lexus a 20% MPG advantage, but with a 20% increase in fuel cost. So fuel would be a net wash, but the toyota has a much stronger engine for that fuel cost. Toyota maintenance is much cheaper also. I'm not sure what to do. I've seen both a White and Silver GX460 on the local dealership lot. The silver looked OK, but the white looked plain. Neither looked like a 60K+ vehicle. I'm waiting to see the dark gray (knights armor). That would be the color I would most likely pick. I'm hoping that it looks better in the darker colors and will make me feel like it is worth 60K+.

Yea my sister's family is on their 2nd Sequoia, they have the new Platinum now. It's a hell of a truck, very comfortable, LOTS of interior room, plenty of bells/whistles and it has a hell of a tow capacity. It's a beast of a truck though and that may not appeal to some. It's one I will consider when it's time to get rid of the GX.
