Default 2010 gx should be right around the corner

According to Autoweek, the 2010 4runner will be introduced to the public on Sept 24th.

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2009...NEWS/908279993

With the GX being on the same platform as the 4runner, it shouldn't be too long after the 4runner's intro that we see the new gx.

I talked to the service rep on Thursday, and he said the new GX won't be out until sometime next year.

I've never been one to believe anything that's said from anybody at a dealership, especially the salespeople. They're the last to know. I'd believe these forums 200% before I believe anything coming from the dealers. Never the less, I'm sure the GX will come out after the 4runner is introduced. My opinion is that it won't be too long after the 4runner. I might guess January 2010 because why would Toyota wait too long before introducing it unless they're still in the process of testing or still trying to put the finishing touches on it.

One thing that will be nice to see is that when the 4runner actually is introuduced, we'll have a pretty good idea of what we might be able to expect for the GX in terms of possible equipment, chassis specs, and options.

.
Toyota released the 2008 Land Cruiser in Oct 2007. LX570 was released in January 08....one should note something.....the LX570 was introduced to the public in April 07 8-9 months before being released to the public....The Land Cruiser on the other hand was introduced in Sept 07 about one month before it would go on sale.

Not really. The GX will have a V8 and the 4runner will have I4/V6....

If my memory is correct, Lexus introduced the GX470 in Feb 2002 at the Detroit Auto Show....it wasn't until Jan 2003 when it was at dealers.

The Prado will make its debut in Japan on Sep 14, so I guess the cars would be on sale some time in October. For the Lexus version, it should be some time after that; if we're lucky we might see it in November, but I think more like Jan or Feb 2010.

All available info suggest the 2WD 4runner will have an I-4 option and that there will be no v-8.

At least we can see that the new model will finally get LED taillights. Odd that it appears the new 4Runner will be getting rid of their LED taillights...seems like a step backwards for the 4Runner.

Seems like Toyota is trying to make the 4Runner go back to it's no-frills, off-roading roots, while further differentiating the GX from the 4Runner.
