Supposedly the GX 460 will be revealed at an event in Shanghai this month...I googled and found no concrete info on that, but stay tuned...

The Lexus GX midsize luxury SUV has been on sale since 2003 and has enjoyed some success during that time, managing to rack up to 35,420 sales in 2004--its best year on record and easily eclipsing the company’s annual target of 20,000 units. Demand in the midsize luxury SUV segment, however, has tanked in recent years and so far this year sales have dropped more than 52%.

While many rivals may soon start pulling out of the segment altogether, Lexus intends to stick it out by launching a redesigned GX. The latest model is expected to feature all-new sheet metal as well as a 310 horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 in replacement of the current model’s anemic 263 horsepower 4.7-liter V-8. This new 4.6-liter engine, incidentally, is the same unit used in the 2010 Toyota Tundra.

The current body-on-frame platform will remain, but expect radically different styling as well as a redesigned rear door. The interior will also be fully updated, with more luxurious trim and an updated navigation system coming as standard.

The new GX will likely be called the GX 460 and bow in towards the end of the year as a 2010 model, most likely with a debut at the 2009 Los Angeles auto show in November.

Now I have reason to go to the LA autoshow this year

That's what was rumored, but somehow I'm not so sure. There are no autoshows in Shanghai this month, and it would be strange for Lexus to hold a separate event *just for* the GX reveal. My bet is that it is more likely the GX will be revealed at the LA auto show, although that would be very close to when the new GX is supposed to hit dealers.

I guess we shall see soon enough.

I would have thought that Lexus would introduce the new truck at the Tokyo Auto Show. My guess is if they don't introduce it there, the next best guess would be the LA Auto Show.

I think the all new Gx will be first introduce in LA. Because after all the Lexus Gx is aimed mostly for the American buyers.

The Tokyo show opens to the public on 10/24. Maybe we'll see the new GX there.

It doesn't make sense to wait until December to debut the GX if it's going to be available to dealerships at the same time.

There is no mention of the GX debuting in Tokyo. It would have to be in LA or another event before December.

They would not introduce the GX at the Tokyo autoshow because the Lexus GX is not sold in Japan. The truck will be introduced in a country in which Toyota markets it to.

The interior looks OK, not the most luxurious (and I don't expect it) but nice enough to be up there with German rivals. If the 2010 model costs about the same as the 2009 then I'll probably consider buying one.
