2010 prado (next gx?)
#82
But we, in North America, might get the updated GX sooner than we think; I contacted my local dealer and asked if they still had a 2009 base model GX available (since all the dealers in GVA only have the loaded Ultra Premiums in stock), and the manager said that the 2009 GX is no longer available in Canada. I think this implies that all dealers in Canada are selling whatever they have in stock, and the 2010 model should be coming very soon (i.e., September/October)!!

Now I have to make up my mind; should I wait for the new GX, or get the Merc E Class instead?

According to production rumors, a GX 450 Hybrid will be released no later than late 2010. It will have a 4.5 liter V6 engine, powering the car to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 8.3 seconds. With a cylinder deactivation system and a reduced weight, the 2010 Lexus GX450 Hybrid will get 20 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway.
If the above is accurate, the GX hybrid would be slower than the GX 460.

The interior looks very nice, and this is only the Prado version!! I expect the Lexus version to be even better!! Since the 2010 Merc E Class won't be available here until the Fall, I guess I can try out both the Merc and the GX. I personally like sedans better (that's why I was planning to get the GS in the first place), but the Prado looks very good too.......
EDIT: I found some info on a Japanese website (looks like it's someone's blog) that the new Prado will have a front and side monitoring system (it's called the Multi-Terrain Monitor, according to the Japanese website), similar to the LX. Another system is the Multi-Terrain Select, which I think is a computerized program for specific road conditions, like Mud & Sand, Loose Rock, Mogul (?), and Rock Mode. One last thing; the Prado will make its debut on September 14th, and that doesn't mean it will be available for purchase at that time.
